Ian John Lewis - Please just retire
Ian John Lewis - Please just retire
Ian, I've had enough of you, that's not the first time, 2nd, 3rd, in fact I have lost count.
Just retire gracefully and stop ruining fights with your joke refereeing and farcical scorecards.

Don't worry IJL will get promoted to Super Star Referee by the British Boxing Board of lack of Control.
Don't blame IJL, blame the Board.

Re: Ian John Lewis - Please just retire
I'm aware refs have a very difficult decision on when to call a fight but some of the stoppages in this country are beyond a joke. Could you imagine this standard of reffing in the 1988 meeting between Benn and Logan, Nigel took a right pasting before he poleaxed Logan.
If a fighter is trapped against the ropes taking unanswered clear blows to the head ala Tommy Morrison against Ray Mercer then stop the bloody fight but some of these refs christ you only need to tickle your opponent and the refs in there.

Just watched the fight. Again an absolute joke by Lewis. I didn't know what the fuss was about before but surely that needs looking into. It wont happen though. I feel for Enzo as he was putting some good shots in there off the ropes.

Get in there, MH!
Re: Ian John Lewis - Please just retire
It should be taken out of his hands. Incompetence beyond the limits of what is acceptable. He should be forcibly retired or, at the very least, handed a long suspension. However, I'm sure the domestic "jobs for the boys" culture will save him from what he deserves.

Hollywood hunter! Tame the inner tiger! Your supposed to be a lover now!
The board can't really do nothing to IJL as enzo shouldn't really be fighting & as much I detest IJL he may of been very concerned as we have all seen enzo badly sparked!

I really think he s a good ref and he s a great guy he made a mistake jumpin in too early but your right hurlock enzo shouldn't be fighting he can't take a punch anymore
Re: Ian John Lewis - Please just retire
For me, it's gotten to the point that when I see Ian John-Lewis is refereeing or scoring a fight, I almost expect he'll somehow manage to mess something up.
Quick stoppage, bogus scorecard or some other blunder that spoils the fight.
My faith in him doing a proper job is that low.
I don't expect the BBBofC to do anything now since they never have before, but why aren't the fighters themselves protesting his involvement?
Surley they have a say in who is to referee a fight, like they do in the US?
Can't believe any boxer would feel confident about having him as the third man in the ring, not with his track record he has over the last few years.

Michael I think Rhino meant do you think he has only messed up in one fight, as most of us have seen at least a few times IJL messing something up.
Did anyone see that documentary a few years back with Ian being a custody sergeant? Was quite funny his banter with a few of them coming in and out.

Re: Ian John Lewis - Please just retire
I just wonder if the pressure is getting to him. He gets a lot of flak on the forums, no doubt he reads them.
He seems to have lost it, the post listing his bad calls as either a ref or a judge is now very long. He used to be an exceptional ref, the best in the business for me back 4/5 years ago. I remember when Craig Docherty was defending his Commonwealth Super Feather title and him allowing Craig to continue with an horrendous cut - that was the first time I had ever disagreed with any call he'd made.
I think he needs to take a break, not retire - he's young and was fantastic but I think there are too many eyes watching his performances now and he is finding the pressure tough.

Re: Ian John Lewis - Please just retire
Lol..one minute you are offering me ringside tickets the next you are beating me up again........you are not allowed to beat me up Mickey, you have retired! plus you are a father and should no better!......so come on, lets not fall out. In my opinion IJL has made multiple ill judged cock ups in the last couple of years, no one doubts that he may well have reffed you well, but he has seriously declined performance wise over the last couple of years, its as plain as day and most on here would agree with me. No one is saying that he was not once a decent referee or judge, but his decisions lately have been shocking.tear up wrote:one fight???..... come on michael, have you been to the moon!![/quoterhino222 wrote:tear up wrote:Always been a very good ref in my eye s everyone can make a mistake he s done many of my fight s and let it go me and Marc callaghan stood toe 2 toe for ten rounds till it was stopped for the British title he never once jumped in think every one jumpin the gun over one fight thAt he s stopped too early
