hamed wasn't that hard to find but he had a very good chin and could bang ridiculous hard.

think hamed would win via TKO in the 6th-7th.
Never showed his power or chin at 130, though.
Gatti's fight with Manfredy was already scheduled when Hamed fought Kelley, and Gatti had already left 130 and vacated his title when he fought Manfredy, which occurred at LW.
Gatti was having huge problems making 130 by that time.
Garcia then won the vacant title.

Hamed never fought above featherweight so would have been a completely unknown quantity against a 135lb Gatti.

Gatti never fought below super featherweight and by 1998 he was fighting at lightweight.

Hamed had more talent but Gatti could take a tremendous amount of punishment and keep coming at you, given that Hameds power is completely unproven above featherweight I'd have to go for Gatti on sheer physical strength, he'd throw Hamed around like a ragdoll.

I don't know how you came to that conclusion. Gatti is there to be hit, and Hamed is fast. As BW pointed out though, Gatti is big at the weight. At 130 he wasn't exactly feather-fisted either, and Hamed had a tendency to be awkward and get himself in to trouble.

I'd pick Hamed by stoppage in the later half, but I think it's a tougher fight than some think, either way, I definitely don't think it would have been a snoozer.

Snoozer? Well Gatti would likely be snoozin at bouts end I suppose. However the awkward manner in which said "snooze" would be imposed by the Prince would likely provide quite a bit of entertainment along the way.

I wouldn't pay much mind to him, Tyson was way past his prime when he fought Douglas too.

it was a jest! this fight would be riveting spectacle and unlikely to go the distance, but some just cant spot a leg pull.

its a waste of time trying to joke in print - i'll say it straight - hamed eventually wears gatti out and it is halted around the 11th of a pulsating fight

Hamed wouldn't dent him, Gatti would have been too big.

Respectfully disagree. I think Hamed had the type of power that would move up and still be effective similar to Roy Jones at 175, who was undersized at that weight as well. Hamed had that tricky "God's gift" type of power being he was already smaller than most at 126 still knocking them silly. Gatti I don't think is too much bigger than Kelley and Gatti was very easy to hit. I take Hamed in a Pacquiao/Cotto type fight.

I have no idea how anyone even vaguely familiar with either of these guys thinks this fight would be a snoozer. It would have been a brawl with multiple knockdowns, almost certainly. I never saw Hamed at his very best, so I don't really wanna say, but I know Gatti in 1998 was very, very, very easy to hit.

it was a joke, sir, a piece of sarcasm so transparent as to be like the very smear of vaseline on a fighters brow. only you didnt see it, like quite a few others on here - not really your fault, more mine. but of course this fight is a brawl from one end to the other. and, just as obviously, hamed wins by KO
