He's coming in off 2 decent wins including stopping Ross Burkinshaw plus he's fought at bantam.

Your entitled to your opinion David,but the fact we have gone up a weight is an indicator of how hard it is to get an opponent to take the fight . The original opponent pulled out the fight after a change of heart ... offers were made to other fighters but none took the offer . Michael Ramabeletsa took the fight and prepared to come up and got to respect that !

Ross Burkenshaw is no mug, so that is a good victory for any fighter .

I think as an opponent he will give a good account of himself and will be a live opponent for Iain and most importantly keep it competitive ,yes he has 8 losses but hes only had 1 ko, . the smith fight would have been good, but if he dosent want to fight ,not much we can do ?

For this stage in Iains career i think hes a good choice

I have seen ramabaletsa fighting a few times against guys like Jon slowey and that and personally with him fighting again feather weights and now coming down to fight at super fly he is going to be big and I personally think this will be a tougher fight for Iain than the rematch with smith yes the smith fight was tight but Iain got a cut over his eye in the first round and couldn't open up the way he would have liked to so the second fight would have been totally different a can guarantee that.ramabaletsa should not be dismissed and well be treating this fight very seriously .

Makes for a good fight. Its hard I think for you guys as butcher fights at a weight where there isnt alot of fighter. Im shocked Usman Ahmed hasnt taken a fight. He normally takes up the challenge. How many fights till hell be in with Satchell.? Good luck on the show!

Kris Hughes returns on Dec 7th against Dougie Curran

As 2012 draws to an end Bellshill boxer Kris “Badger” Hughes hopes to return winning ways and score his first victory of the year when he returns on Dec 7th Rivals Gym, Wishaw. After losing to Carl Frampton in a challenge for the Commonwealth Super Bantamweight in February ,the 24 year old returned in September against Ghanian Richard Commey and had to retire in round 4 with a broken hand.

Despite the loss, Hughes took a lot of positives “The fight with Commey started good then ended bad. I had me winning the first two rounds and then losing the next two rounds. I then broke my left hand during the fight and had to pull out with the injury. I don’t like the fact it was on stool, however if you break your hand there not much you can do”

With the Dec 7th show, fast approaching Hughes is scheduled to take on Newcastle based Dougie “The Bullet” Curran over 6 rounds. The Geordie fighter comes into the fight with an impressive knockout win against Paisley's Stephen Russell last month and Hughes knows what to expect “I seen that Curran won by stoppage in his last fight and he will be looking to do the same again. If you look at his record he has a good record against Scottish fighters and he will be well up for it. From what I have seen of him he's good at coming forward to fight and is better than his record may suggest”

After seeing his fighter on the receiving end of two consecutive losses, Manager Paul Graham explains that they are going back to basics but still has faith “Kris is a talented fighter, you can see from the way he operates in the ring, and from the way he trains. He has been unlucky with his last loss, and now his hand has healed he is itching to get out there. He is now trained by his dad again, and there working on all sorts and he’s really pushing Kris”


Kris Hughes joins a seven fight card also features Billy Campbell,Rhys Pagan,Mark Parvin,James Tennyson and Sean Watson.

Lets Hope Chris can get back to winning ways ,picking up a broken hand in a fight really is a shit way to lose a fight . But Curran is coming in with a win over Russell

I just noticed this what a great fight for Kris. Comney was a risk that never paid off. I would like to see Kris down at feather or even super feather lightweight is too much for him in my opinion. Curran is a dangerous fighter always comes to fight and is a game lad. Hope Kris gets back to winning ways

I like competitive fights I don't hide that fact. I give my honest opinion some times it's wrong but I will still always give it. I want all Scottish boxers to do well including all prospect fighters unless they fought Ronnie.

Hughes I think would be more suited to 9st 4. How he managed to make Bantam at the start of his career I don't know. He's taller than some heavyweights.

One of the boys from the gym I go to in Valencia, Rocky Pele is fighting Watson on that show.
People in Spain are really struggling in the economic crisis, massive unemployment here. The gym is bustling, lots of hungry fighters wanting work.

Cannae please everyone i suppose, i think the Campbell/Kelly and Hughes/curran are tidy wee scraps considering one is only on his second fight and the other one is coming off two defeats and Curran and Kelly will come to figth

Tennyson v Convey is pretty decent i think
