Carl Froch vs Yusaf Mack: A total mismatch?

Post by big lennox »

You can't fault Froch's competition throughout his career, but I was just looking at Macks record and all his four losses have come via knockout, that is not a good sign. Presumably, he will have a 5th lodge, by way of knock out, after Saturday evening.

This looks to me like a gift fight for Froch. I don't know too much about Mach, but 4 knockout losses does not give me much confidence that this will be very close.

Do I have this wrong? Have other people seen Mack -is he better than I imagine him to be?

He's fought about 7 tough fights in a row. Extremely tough fights with extremely tough guys. He couldv'e fought noone bewtween the two Bute fights it's just keeping him busy. He deserves a night off for once. I can't believe some people have been cruxifying him for this! He's hardly Cleverly... He's fighting Bute and maybe Kessler next remember

I remember Clinton Woods describing Mack as a fairly gutless, useless sparring partner to have. He always folds in the mid-rounds. I don't imagine this will be any different.

This is a mismatch; Mack tends to outbox the Tavoris Clouds of the world before folding when the pressure is put on him. In my mind Froch is a level above Cloud so I expect this to be over in 5. But it should be fun while it lasts.

Agree it is one sided but give Froch a break if only other fighters were willing to fight the level of competition he has...

This match worries me slightly. Froch has admitted in the past needing a challenge to get up for and I could easily see him taking his eye off the ball after years of tough matches. Many times have fighters slipped up in these marking time fights just because they didn't train quite as hard or aren't quite as focused as they should be

Then again he is coming off one of his best performances and it is only Mack.

I think Mack calling him a poor mans Clazaghe means he will be in for an even more spiteful beating then he would have recieved anyway

Plus dropping down to Supermiddle won't of helped Mack , there's not many that can drop that weight off after 5 years and still be strong.
Froch trains well from what i've seen for any level of competition, i can't see him being less than 95% for this match.

Carl deserves a gimme, esp when waiting on another big fight. And Mack is a lot better than a lot of gimme's supposed world champs get.

To be fair, that possibly looks like an easier assignment than Mack now.

What relevance does Hawk have to this thread ya weirdo? You just have a dig at every opportunity that comes close to stalking. Different weights as well FFS

Stalking who? Making the point that people are critsing a man that never takes an easy fight until know when your man Cleverly fights bums all the time. People are critising him but HES BETTER THAN HAWK... your point is now void

Mack is a LWH... so technically the same division and ranked there also... coming down for one fight but don't let facts get in your way

Froch was offered Cleverly at a catch weight and refused to fight him. Go figure.

And I stalk Cleverly? You are in love pal. Mack has fought higher opposition. It would also mean putting on and then losing weight for the first time in his career. Plus he's fighter a much more dangerous opponant in Bute soon. Go figure

Carl Froch is the real deal, few people want to take him on quite honestly. Kelly Pavlik's handlers don't want not part of him right now. Yusaf Mack is a true warrior, fights just about everyone. Guess sometimes being avoided leads you to be like Charley Burley or Joe Louis' bum of the month tour.
