Did my first 10K race yesterday. Would never class myself as a runner, and have never run this far before. Managed a time of 46 mins 20 sec, which I was made up with.
Over the past 12 months I've started running once a week as part of my general fitness routine, and built up to about 5 miles, so decided to give it a go.
I might be getting the running bug, and am thinking of registering for another 10K.

Re: My first 10K race
go for it mate, that time for 10k is a good one. think thats around 7.45 minute for a mile, which is none to shabby at all.
After doing a couple more 10k have a look at doing a 10 mile race, there are usually loads going on if you google local running events.
I did my first 10 mile race type thing a couple of weeks ago and got 1hr 18mins, so that was just under 8 minute miles.

Re: My first 10K race
Cheers mate - will definitely keep a look out for similar events; don't think I'm quite ready for 10 miles yet but I can start building up to it. Will try and get in a couple more 10K runs first.
Your time sounds really fast for 10 miles, I think I would need to drop my pace considerably to run that distance as my legs were pretty goosed by the end!
Cheers.

My 10 mile was a pretty flat run till the last 2 miles, i started out way to fast and paid for it at the end.

Re: My first 10K race
Cheers mate, I'm starting to feel more comfortable running that distance now, so will start to gradually crank it up.
Good luck with the half marathon, I'd like to aim for that myself at some point in the future.
Cheers!

Congratulations man. That is pretty impressive to me. Don't forget to practice dipping your shoulder at the beginning when throwing the left hook sometimes to jump, twist, and get that kinetic energy a la Joe Frazier.jonoevansla wrote:Did my first 10K race yesterday.
