Tim Austin v. Ayala unification.

Post by Rover »

They both held belts at 118 simultaneously.
I'd take Austin by decision. Think his power would've swayed the judges.
Too bad this didn't happen; Ayala and Austin both fought on Showtime (Ayala twice v. Tapia--once on PPV).

Never rated Ayala, meself. Proved me wrong enough the horrible little lefty bastard, but never rated him. Thought Bones beat him & Tapia. & Bredahl (I'm not going to be popular for saying that) as well.

I don't think I ever picked for him & was oh-so-relieved when MAB KTFO'd him. Austin gets over-rated though (as Septics did at the time, imo) these days...

So having said all that:

Austin. Every day of the week & twice on Sundays. But maybe just 'cos I've picked him the scrabbling southpaw might shuffle to another dodgy squeaker...

I thought Dianzo beat him.

Thought he beat Bredahl close, though.
Was glad Morales whooped his ass.

Yes, Dianzo as well. The list of close decisions that boy got was astonishing, I assume as he rode a bit of a wave of "Naaw, poor Paulie" 'cos he nutted/was nutted by Crying-Face Tatsuyoshi in his first title attempt...

I didn't have Dianzo that close. It's been over a decade, but 116-111, if I recall correctly. Teddy went nuts when that decision came down.
