Post by Tommy Gunn »

well, tommy beat foreman, pinklon thomas, razor ruddok.
why woundn't you give credit on that?
you only see the bentt fight, that's all, look at the ones he won.
Tommy was the best white heavyweight in the 90's, don't tell me quarry, or cooney were better, because they never were champions.
tommy was 2 times champion of the world.

Ahh Tommy.. You truly are deluded. Morrison was a heavyweight titlist. At no time was he ever heavyweight champion. To become heavyweight champ you must beat the linear champion at the time he is champ. Tell me, who did Morrison beat to become heavyweight champion of the world? Do you think any serious boxing fan considers Michael Bennt the former heavyweight champion of the world?

Stop looking through Tommy Morrison's jock strap and see things as they actually were.

A little harsh, but none the less true. Stop eating "alphabet soup", Mr. Gunn.

english grammar

Post by Tommy Gunn »

well if you meant because of my grammar, let me tell you that I am not american, or british, I am from italy, so english is not my first lenguage, if you rather for me to write you in italian or even spanish or french, so you won't see as many mistakes as I do in english, than I would do you that favor.

Tommy... I have no problem with your English. In fact it is very good and had you not told me that English is not your first language, I never would have known.

My only problem is your blind devotion to Morrison. He never was a true champion and was not nearly as good a fighter as you make him out to be.

Tomato Can, thank you for your last comment.
About tommy, well, yes, i might be blind, but I have all his fights, like I have all tyson fights, all bowe fights, all foreman fights (when he came back), all lewis fights, all damiani fights(hehehe I had too), all tua fights, and more heavyweights fights... and for some reason, I like a lot tommy style, to me he is my favorite, even though he didn't do anything to make history. But I saw on him a lot of talent, that with more dedication(he used to party a lot), he had everything to be a champion like you say. He was a champion to me(you might not be agree with me), he beat foreman, and foreman his next bout after he fought tommy, beat moorer with a nice knock out. I still believe that he was a true champion tho.
but this is a forum, and it's nice to agree and disagree.
Tommy could end a fight with his left hook, and yes a fight could be end by a weak chin that tommy had, but that left hook could change the history of the bout.
take care

I'm not sure I can back up the idea that you have to beat linear champions and such to be considered a titlist because I think even that has become too cloudy. If you never won the IBF, WBA, or WBC belt, I would not consider you a World Champion. In my opinion, you can flush a WBO belt down the toilet. (not saying that some of the WBO champs of past and present aren't good, but that belt is meaningless. Hence, I would never call the Princess a legit champ)

I am a great fan of 'the Duke' myself.

Not only because of his boxing career but especially because Tommy is a character, he is the kind of boxer I love.

Two things prevented him from being a champion:

1. His glass chin
2. His devotion for women und unprotected sex

--------------------------------------

I am glad that he is finally out of prison and seems to live happily with his wife and children.
I hope finally he will find a publisher for his auto-biography, I am the first one to buy the book.

------------------------

Tommy was overprotected and spend most of his career fighting bums, but who isn't?

Take a look at today's boxing in general, Wlad and Vitali fought each about 25 - 30 bums before they met serious contenders.

Tommy was only 27 when he had to retire and boxed some great fighters yet.
I often imagine what could have been, he was to sign a deal with Don King over 3 great fights just before he had to retire due to his HIV-infection.

----------------------------

I love to see Tommy's fights once in a while and dream a bit...

The alphebet soup reference wasnt because of your grammar, or spelling.

It was in reference to you considering Morrison a legit champion.
WBA, IBO, WBC, WBO, IBF and all the other sanctioning bodies are what I consider alphabet soup.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

As for Morrison....I liked him as a fighter. He was a solid contender, and had an explosive left hook.

I just dont consider him a legit champion.
