Daniel The Rock Dawson

Post by amwsnw »

Daniel is scheduled to fight on the undercard of Bryant v Fletcher on Dec 7.
As a keen supporter of Daniels I believe he needs to take on the best in the country at Jnr Middle. His age is against him and fighting imports such as Tuhumury isnt going to serve his cause any good at all. I know Daniel has a goal and being put in against guys such as this wont help him achieve his goal.
I hope his management and promotional team do the right thing by him because he deserves one or two big pay days.
Would like to know what everyone thinks of Daniel v King Davidson and the other top Jnr Middles in the country?
I for one was hoping for a rematch against Loporto or a match up with Heremaia or Oti this time around.
Good luck on the 7th Rock.

Dawson v GGG qould be a massacre.

Daswon is a LMW and GGG is a big MW. Dawson is not even the best in his division in Australia, whereas GGG is winning on the world stage.

Don't get me wrong I like watching Dawson fight but his fight against Geale and Dzinziruk showed he is not a the level he would need to be at the fight GGG

I tend to think it was the hand speed of both Geale and Dzinziruk that made it hard for Dawson, More So Dzinziruk then Geale as Dawson just looked like shit in that fight.

I wish the best for Dawson, Hope he gets another title shot soon as age would be catching up with his ability.

Nice if you have a very strong dislike for Dawson perhaps :shame:

Daniel had huge problems with dzinzuriks reach and height. I think on his day Daniel is the best in the division in Australia but unfortunately he isnt being given the opportunity to show it.

I prob just think that GGG is another Anton Solopov waiting to happen - and its why i would like to see Dawson fight him then say Frank LoPorto.

I don't see anything but an ugly ending for Dawson against GGG. Can't see anything that gives the impression Dawson would have the slightest chance.

Too true Brute...the comment was made more outta frustration with Daniel not being able to land a big fight. Hopefully it comes soon.

Powder-puff puncher with no future beyond the enfeebled Australian domestic scene seems like a fairer assessment!

So he is a hitter in higher class and has a successful international future ahead of him? Lets be honest, at best he'll get used for target practice by some German champion or an up-and-coming Brit at some point in the future.

We will never know if he doesnt get the opportunity to step up instead of the current opponents. I am huge supporter of Daniel's and just find it disappointing he cant get the bigger names in this country, never mind on a world stage. I respect anybody's comments, and I take it from yours you have seen Daniel fight often over the years ??

I admit I'm only familiar with him from his loses. Particularly I recall the reports of his 10th round loss to Sergiy Dzinziruk as highlighting Dawson's lack of power and easiness to hit. Daniel Geale also scored a shut-out points decision which again emphasized the same issues. I just don't think the guys going anywhere I suppose is my point. If he came to the UK and faced say a third string middle weight like Danny Butler, he'd still probably lose! (I suppose I should add that Dawson is 35 and probably in gradual decline ...like us all! Lol)

Well I'm from the UK, but live in Oz. One thing I will say is that I miss Boxing News! Sometimes on occasion I'm forced to read Ray Wheatley's 'World of Boxing' magazine. If I have to read another article recounting the career highlights of Jeff Fenech or Lionel Rose I may have to kill myself - It's like fricking Groundhog Day!

Dzinzurik he couldnt land on, so his power was irrelevant. And Geale boxed his ears off, but even you will have to admit that Geale is probably the second best Middleweight in the world (or is that too difficult...I know Barker and Murray are out there !!). My post on Dawson was pushing for him to get a bout with Oti or Heremaia here....and that I would really like to see him get a big pay day before the end of his career. I can assure you regardless of the losses you mention, he is not a powder puff puncher !!

Okay, fair enough. Must admit I'm not too familiar with those two boxers you mentioned you wanted Dawson to fight. And I like the look of Geale, and always liked the similar Sam Soliman too. High-work rate non-punchers, but skilled with it. They wear you out! Are they going to fight each other soon?

If you think Daniel is just a show pony clearly you know nothing about him.
