Froch Biggest Purse?
Froch Biggest Purse?
How much do you think Froch's biggest pay day has been? I guess it was against Ward? But does anyone know how much? I recall FW saying he was offering Froch a career best of £1million to face Cleverly.
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
£380,000 (ish) for the fight with Ward is what I heard.

Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
If that is true, it's a sad indictment of boxing that one of the sport's most exicting fighters with a resume of opponents that is up there with the best has a top purse way short of what the likes of Audley Harrison (for example) has.JLP wrote:£380,000 (ish) for the fight with Ward is what I heard.
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
Totally agree. By contrast, I heard that Matt Macklin, on the back of the irish-american market, made $1m for his last fight in the US.Syntax Error wrote:If that is true, it's a sad indictment of boxing that one of the sport's most exicting fighters with a resume of opponents that is up there with the best has a top purse way short of what the likes of Audley Harrison (for example) has.JLP wrote:£380,000 (ish) for the fight with Ward is what I heard.

Just to clarify, I don't have a clue if that purse sat in terms of his career pay days. Nor do I know if it's cast iron fact. It's just what I heard and have read.
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
That sounds like a BS figure to me. Not many fighters rake $1m purses.liamlion wrote:Totally agree. Edit: Macklin's official purse for his last fight was $85,000. I'm not sure how he managed to top that up to a million?

Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
I think your about right with that purse JLP, but Froch also had TV money to add onto that.
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
What ever it's been, one thing is for sure, IF he rematches bute, Kessler and ward in his next 3 fights (possibly all in 2013) he will make a small fortune, I'd be very supprised if them 3 fights alone don't add up to £5M

Totally agree. Crazy to think Audley can earn 1 million for the haye fight and Froch's last 2 fights may not have made £1million.....
I'm surprised Froch only earned £380k for the fight with Ward. It seems a very small purse?

Still more than a proper job pays.Terminator666 wrote:380k-So after tax, paying trainers, cornermen etc i wonder what's left?
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
Ward $900k and Froch $600k + tv rights

The question is of course how much money is the tV rights. This could be a considerable whack on top.
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
Was Ward vs Froch on Sky Sports 1? Are the rights to Froch's fights part of Hearn's deal with Sky or are they negotiated on a match by match basis?forcefraser wrote:The question is of course how much money is the tV rights. This could be a considerable whack on top.

Possibly cause he hadn't lost in the tournament and Froch did, that can only be the logical reason? Unless the winner got one purse and the loser another?
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
Okay. That being the case, it's almost certain that Carl gets extra from that. How much is the business of him, Hearn and Sky (plus the leeches on all sides who always manage to get themselves involved). Not much chance of us getting to know. I wouldn't be able to even make a semi-educated guess. The Dark Destroyer wrote:I might be wrong but I think they have a fight by fight deal.JLP wrote:Was Ward vs Froch on Sky Sports 1? Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
A whole 50 per cent more is insane, there's no justification for that whatsover. Why did froch stand for this???
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
I wouldn't be surprised if Carl ended up with more in his pocket when all was said and done. American fighters always have a mini-army on the take AND then the IRS cometh.Riddick Blowe wrote:A whole 50 per cent more is insane, there's no justification for that whatsover. Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
Maybe he doesn't care for the money? As long as he's getting enough to cover his expenses, pay the bills and put a nice wad away for retirement I'm guessing he's not fussed.
Re: Froch Biggest Purse?
Perhaps. Not everybody is greedy. Like you said earlier, though, whatever he's getting is a shite lot more than what you get for a proper job. I sometimes think people see what top-flight footballers are paid and somehow reach the conclusion that if a sportsman is not getting similar amounts he's being underpaid.banjo wrote:Maybe he doesn't care for the money? He should extract as much pay as he can from his "employer", to reflect his true labour-value, and the scarcity of the skills he has to offer.banjo wrote:Maybe he doesn't care for the money?
