Hi Jaclem

We know you're no Marciano fan. Does he have any chance here? Or is it as some suggest a blow out?

Tbh, I dont think either man ever fought someone with the same size/attributes as the other. Liston was so swift on his feet, so unproprtioned (85" reach ffs!) and so powerful. Marciano, so underated in terms of getting on the inside, sheer volume of his punches (80-110 punches a round is a MW pace). Its very hard to find anyone from the eras they were in to compare, let alone find an oppnent they fought matching eachother.
Thank you for the input. Again, I have seen few Liston fights but I have seen a significant amount of Marciano`s: Moore, both fights with Charles and Walcott, Louis, and one of his bouts with LaStarza. I know that many here follow old fighters far more frequently then I do and I was trying the best I could to evaluate the mythical bout. I think it would be intellectually dishonest for me to say, "Marciano would take this!", merely because of familiarity. Anyways, thanks again.

ezzard.....i've never considered marciano a great fighter, but i'd never say anyone...including most greats, would be a walkover with him.. he was tough and strong and courageous,. he'd give liston trouble but i think sonny had too much on him....size, left jab and chin and basic boxing skills. his right hand was mostly a clubbing weapon and he didn't have the right uppercut that foreman used to demolish frazier.

still...i think liston beats him in a fight that would be war for a while with the little man putting up a fight against the bigger one.
