Are you sure the September event is the "Pan American Games?" USA Boxing has it listed as the "Men's Continental Championships" at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Just curious.

The Panamerican Boxing Championships are held every four years (post-olympic year). Last time out was in San Juan, Puerto Rico 2001.

The last Pan Am Games were held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in 2003 and are scheduled to be held in Brazil in 2007.

The Pan Am Games and the Pan Am boxing championships are not the same event. Tha Pan Am Games is a multi-sports event like the Olympic Games and are held every four years (pre-olympic year). It's of huge importance and also qualifies boxers for the Olympics. There are held qualifying tournaments for the Pan Am Games.
The Pan Am boxing championships is only a boxing event and doesn't get near the same media attention. Not all countries participate with their strongest teams.

Cuban team for the Pan Am championships:

48 Yan Bartelemi
51 Rosniel Iglesias
54 Guillermo Rigondeaux

60 Yordenis Ugas
64 Inocente Fiss
69 Erislandy Lara
75 Emilio Corrrea
81 Yusiel Napoles
91 Luis Ortiz
+91 Odlanier Solis

My guess is they will win 10 gold medals.
