The thing is mate some people dont even consider the skin colour, the fact that she said like a monkey and didnt link it to a racist term isnt something she should be lambasted for. His skin colour didnt even occur to her, should people have to monitor their comments every time they are talking about a mixed or black person just incase that could be misconstrued as a racist taunt.Datsue wrote:Teddy's Toupee wrote:Casual racism from an upper-class individual who has probably never interacted with a member of an ethnic minority in a social situation of assumed equality? Do people use the word "monkey" as a racial slur? Yes. So think before you call a black person it, in public, on a effing prime-time TV show, or people'll throw their rattles out the pram. It's not 1952, thank eff.
No sanction should be taken; apart from pointing at her & laughing, & if you're of any ethnicity other than White, maybe try & find an alternative to... er, what did she do again? I mean, as a profession? Some sort of TV cookery show? What?
Oh, eff it, hang the bitch then. We don't want that sort in this country...

The only person, as I said in my previous post, who knows if their was a racial element to what they said is the person who made the remark. You seem to have the remarkable ability to read minds, even of people thousands of miles away in Australia.kingfinn wrote:The thing is mate some people dont even consider the skin colour, the fact that she said like a monkey and didnt link it to a racist term isnt something she should be lambasted for. Re: David Haye called a monkey
It reads to me more as though she called him a "cheeky monkey"; I don't read any racism into it, but on the other hand, they all get too much attention already.
Re: David Haye called a monkey
i watched it, it was a completely innocent comment, i didnt even give it a second though. my mate won £65 off a £5 bet that she would be evicted that night... yeah that was the reason i was watching it, you know for betting purposes.Teddy's Toupee wrote: The only person, as I said in my previous post, who knows if their was a racial element to what they said is the person who made the remark. The show does not even get shown in Australia. It would be an unintentional comedy.kingfinn wrote:i watched it, it was a completely innocent comment, i didnt even give it a second though. my mate won £65 off a £5 bet that she would be evicted that night... yeah that was the reason i was watching it, you know for betting purposes.Teddy's Toupee wrote: The only person, as I said in my previous post, who knows if their was a racial element to what they said is the person who made the remark. Re: David Haye called a monkey
This is the biggest non story ever. Boxrec can slag off I'm a celebrity... All they want but they ran with this stupid 'story'. Not only that, it's the 'lead'. Irritating.

Re: David Haye called a monkey
Total non-story, this country is so pathetic.
Re: David Haye called a monkey
When I heard about this, I seriously hoped that there wouldn't be a Boxrec thread about it. Because the fact that it's even a subject of debate lends it a degree of legitimacy.
How depressing.
How depressing.

Re: David Haye called a monkey
no mention that she called a white bloke a monkey aswell ... oh well.
Re: David Haye called a monkey
I felt compelled to commit the hypocrisy to make a point, at the cost of my dignity... Although in my defence, I was commenting on the existence of the thread itself, and not the subject of it. If that makes sense.

Re: David Haye called a monkey
I wonder if there will ever be a racial abuse scandal with a white victim? And when are they setting up the MOWO awards???
Re: David Haye called a monkey
Every story is the lead until something comes in and knocks it off. I recommend you do what I do re The Sun. Don't read it.clopixolacuphase wrote:This is the biggest non story ever. We're one of the least tabloid sites there out there. This cack is very much the exception.
I did think it was mildly interesting cack given the current climate. If you don't, fine. Probably best not to give it attention by posting about it.

It seemed innocent and harmless enough. But you know, when shit like this
is still happening -
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... scale.html
Then there will be people like that Herbert character ready to rock and roll. Racism is not
caused through people crying wolf like a lot of people are trying to insinuate. There are
still wankers and dickheads who need shutting up.
