Will Glengoffe Johnson come unstuck.

Glegoffe Johnson appears to be one fight away from a third meeting with Woods and a chance to regain his IBF belt. However, I have a feeling that he could come unstuck. He looked old vs Tarver in the last fight, he has had a long hard career and has already admitted that he has had better training camps. Perhaps he is just brutally honest, but when a fighter tends to admit they have felt better in the past they are usually alot better in the past (i.e. Holyfield).

Of course he is the favourite to beat George Jones, but this guy isn't at all bad - although lost everytime he has fought in the top ten. He has beaten one or two recognisable names, Demetrius Jenkins gave Clinton Woods a toughie well Jones beat him before Woods got to him. He also ran a younger Montell Griffin pretty close when they met.

For Predictions league I have gone for Johnson on points, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it goes the other way about.

Intriguing fight this, Johnson has had a long tough career.

I think I'd definitely agree with you there. I feel Johnson is on the wane now - his age and the battles he's had in the past are sadly catching up with him IMO.

I think this will work out very nicely for Clinton - get revenge on Johnson, IF Johnson gets through the eliminator (which, as you say is not a formality) then be in an A1 position to take on the Tarver/Jones winner

Wasn't Johnson robbed in a few top fights when he fought them though?

Very astute observation stujones. If Johnson loses it's his last fight. If he wins he'll fight only once more. He made good money in the 2 Tarver fights and sounds like a stand up guy that wouldn't blow it all. And if he beats Jones he could probably get one last payday in the UK for maybe £500k.

Seems Johnson KO'd Khalid Jones in 10 which is a good result for Glenn. I was one of those people who thought he looked jaded against Tarver and was possibly on the slide but a good result and a KO as well proves he can still mix it at a decent level.

So, Johnson wins TKO 10, Tarver beats Jones UD 12.

What will we/ should we see next?

Personally, I'd like to see Woods-Johnson first. Johnson's proved he's by no means over the hill, but I think a meeting now would see Woods with his best chance to beat Johnson, which would then put him ahead of your Tiozzo's of the world in line for a shot at Tarver.

On the other hand, Woods did seem to talk quite a lot about another meeting with Jones, and I'm not sure whether Jones winning was a necessary feature for Woods to want it. Hope this doesn't happen. Jones really is done now, he's admitted he's not there mentally.

So I'd really go Woods-Johnson, although it's a question of who, if anyone Tarver would fight in the meantime. Any tough NBA mandatories out there.

Yeah it's a joke isn't it, the Light Heavyweight division is buzzing and where is Calzaghe? Making duff defences against sub standard opposition down at SM, hardly surprising.
