Would Fury have knocked Skelton out in 2 rounds or at all?
Would Price have stopped Johnson?

Come on Blowe. Every man and his dog knows it didn't happen because Fury couldn't risk losing his TV deal.Riddick Blowe wrote:I wasn't saying you in particular. I don't even remember Fury's team putting the 'this one will be bigger down the line' angle on things, they didn't seem to be saying much about Price at all when the matchup was mooted. That's all I was saying and tonight's result doesn't change the past. They might fancy it a bit more now of course, but anyway, the result of this poll is pretty conclusive, the vast majority are still going for Price by KOFat Git wrote:I didn't agree - look back at my posts, I think it is an asssine suggestion that Fury is ducking Price out of fear.Riddick Blowe wrote:Funny how everyone agreed at the time it was pretty obvious Fury wanted nothing to do with Price, but now Fury turns in a decent performance everything's changed.

Well Price caught Skelton on the chin with a big shot and Skelton took it well, succumbing to body shots. Fury would have needed seven or eight more rounds to stop him.
Johnson is tough as hell, Price might have dropped him but I don't see anyone stopping Johnson.

Re: Fury v Price - have the odds narrowed?
I still think Price knocks him out. That doesn't mean I don't think either are top 10 heavyweights, for what that's worth. I think they both beat Povetkin, Chagaev, Adamek. They're too big. I would comfortably pick Haye by KO over Fury. I would make that fight in a heartbeat if I were Adam Boothe. With Price, because of his punch, I think Haye would be more cautious and it'd be closer.
The Klitscko's still beat everybody.

Re: Fury v Price - have the odds narrowed?
Johnson gets too many props for being tough. The truth is we don't know what his chin's like because he's so defensive he rarely gets hit flush. If we saw him in a war then I'd say he was tough. Right now, I'd say his performances at a higher level at heavy make David Haye look like a courageous balls to the wall warrior. Johnson is a card carrying pussy.Riddick Blowe wrote:Well Price caught Skelton on the chin with a big shot and Skelton took it well, succumbing to body shots. hmmm. Really? Not sure where you were at the time but the consensus was Fury was ducking him and pretty obvious it was too. I don't blame him though, it didn't make business sense at the time to get wiped out. If I was his management I would have done the same. But I would have made more of the 'It'll be a bigger fight down the line' anglekeithmoonhangover wrote: Come on Blowe. Consencus is wrong. If Fury fights on any other channel, then he loses his contract witj 5. That is a fact. If it went to purse bids and Hennessy didn't win, then win, lose or draw, Fury loses his deal.Riddick Blowe wrote:hmmm. Really? I've heard so many versions of that amateur fight. There must be a video of it somewhere.Fat Git wrote:

when the facts are he did, there is no basis in truth that Fury is scared of Price.

The footage i've seen on youtube is of such poor quality you can't really see a lot. The knockdown looks legit, though Price has always claimed he tripped over Fury's foot. From the poor quality footage I've seen, I do doubt Price's assertion of a trip. In fairness to Price, he gets straight back up and carries on fighting.states wrote:I've heard so many versions of that amateur fight. There must be a video of it somewhere.Fat Git wrote:

Re: Fury v Price - have the odds narrowed?
Did it get scored as a knockdown back when they fought in the ams? I remember the relative hype surrounding that fight and watched the clip when it first appeared but can't remember how it looked.
Not much was made of the apparent knockdown at the time. Price clearly outclassed him, but then again Fury was barely 17 and Pricey had been fighting internationally for a while.

Johnson world class? What at - collecting his pay cheque after doing hardly anything in a 12 round borefest? If there was a script he followed it to the letter. At least Eubank and Pryce was something worth watching.Fat Git wrote:Fury put in a fantastic performance against a world class heavyweight. He didn't allow

is strong and can punch but he is vulnerable. You can't train a bad chin and he has got
one.

If you have two fighters who fight with their jab and have equal handspeed, the 6ft 9ins fighterjosco wrote:Johnson world class? with the 10 foot reach is going to neutralise the 6ft 3ins fighter with a shorter reach quite easily.
Johnson came to fight, but he is not an infighter. Fury boxed fantastically last night and there
wasn't much Johnson could do about it. Boxing physics 101 I would have thought.

Re: Fury v Price - have the odds narrowed?
You gotta take your hat of to Fury ,hes heard his critics so has stepped it up got him self in terrific shape and is fighting credible opponents with an aim to fight for a title in a fight or two.
Price has looked good granted ,but FFS come on ,what happened to him fighting David Haye or Chisora like he said he wanted two fights ago ? instead we got Fruadley and Skeleton
Price definitely is the most natural powerful heavyweight in briton,he has skills to ,so lets see him fight one live opponent mr Maloney, lets put Price in with the Kingpin or even better Chisora, then we would be able to gage how good Price is and the gap between Price and Fury, until then i think everyone need to get off the hype train cause it might just crash

After all the weekends action I'm still non the wiser who wins. Still a 50/50 between Fury and Price for me.
Re: Fury v Price - have the odds narrowed?
Skelton was a mismatch for Price, but for Fury would have probably gone to points. Fur has nothing on Pricey. All of Priceys fights have been mismatches because he is so good.
We will see for defnitie after his next fight anyways. Hopefully the fight aginst Fury will happen soon.

I would go with Fury as I think he is improving at a quicker rate than Price. I was very impressed with his workrate and his variety last night.
Price for me hasnt been hit yet, when he is we'll see what he is made of. Fury has been floored, and been in tougher fights and came out the other side of it all the better.

Re: Fury v Price - have the odds narrowed?
Fury looked superb in spots last night. Patient, excellent jab, excellent footwork and some lovely combos when he was able to get close to Johnson.
Price for me still looks a bit open - Skelton was able to give him a rough ride for as long as he was upright - but his power is really something special, and I'd like to see if it has the same effect at European or World level.
It'll be interesting to see who prevails if Fury keeps up this rate of improvement, mind you - his level of opposition is significantly better than Price's to date, and we still haven't seen how Price looks against someone good enough to take his power and land back. I honestly think they may not meet until they're both at or near world level.
