A career Jr.welterweight that GBP developed a grudge against?), then what Canelo has done up to this point hasn't proven shit. One barely top ten jr.middleweight on his record, and has had the title for how long? Any true fan should be skeptical of that. It's clearly not Canelo's fault, he is going to be a huge financial success no matter what and GBP knows that so why not milk it. But call it what it really is, a padded record, not this ridiculous bullshit "progressing nicely" or whatever else people wanna call it to mask the truth.
The only point being made is that there's no other current 22-year-old as impressive, which is true.
Of course Benitez was.
So was Chavez.
So was Sanchez.
So was Hearns.
So was MAB.
So was Morales.
So was Duran.
So was Arguello. (He won his title at 22.)
But we're talking about the present.

And...go...
Can't think of any.
Calling Bob Mee, Alverez is exeptional - wonder if he's a shooting star though?
I need to see more from him. He's the best 22 year-old currently.
Floyd had done more by 22, as had Oscar, JCC, Tito, MAB, etc.

Warning:
Fernando Vargas had also done a lot by 22. Now, he had a good career overall, but he was for all intents and purposes done by 24 with the DLH fight.

And let's not forget Cobrita Gonzalez, who had his last title fight at 22 after having lost his title 7 months earlier at 21. He had a sensational debut on HBO and had a better win than Canelo has had so far.

Let's not forget Matthew Hilton, another early-20s star who flamed out quickly.

There were 3 close rounds that I saw, I gave 1 to Cotto and 2 to Trout

117-111 Trout for me. Anywhere between 119-109 and 115-113 is defensible I think. I like how Malignaggi slammed Adelaide Byrd ("judges like that should stay home") when his card was at least as bad, and- in my opinion- slightly worse. Reminds me of BJ Flores in that respect.

Regarding the Canelo discussion that broke out heavily on the previous page- everyone seems to be forgetting Ryan Rhodes. He was like the #7 fighter in the division when Canelo demolished him. That's his best win, for me. And that's by a long shot. I'm about a year-plus behind in my 154 rankings right now, but my sense is that Canelo is probably behind only Mayweather, Trout (as of this weekend), and mayyyybe Bundrage when you rank strictly on accomplishment.

Also, regarding the last page: if you scroll up from the bottom and see what appears to be a nice pair of legs- please realize that you will be sorely disappointed and a little embarrassed just seconds later.
