One Pick Only : Very Best Fighter Not In The IBHOF
One Pick Only : Very Best Fighter Not In The IBHOF
Obviously excluding those who are not yet eligible.
I have to go with Mike O'Dowd, who's exclusion for so long is just plain bizarre.

O'Dowd is probably as good a choice as anybody. Just to pick someone different I will go with Eddie Mustapha Muhammad.

I'd also go with O'Dowd, but I'll throw out Harry Jeffra.

Re: One Pick Only : Very Best Fighter Not In The IBHOF
Both Dowd and Jeffra have been up for many years now and I know I voted for both of them over the years, including this year!

It's a shame, though Newsboy Brown and Eddie Booker were my top 2 for many years. How much longer are they on the ballot? Because they have no chance next year and a lot of huge names are coming soon.hhascup wrote:Both Dowd and Jeffra have been up for many years now and I know I voted for both of them over the years, including this year!
Laciar, Yuh, Gushiken & Zapata are 4 more guys I'd like to see get in.

Dowd is in the old-timers category, so he should get in pretty soon, maybe this is the year!SaadOffTheDeck wrote:It's a shame, though Newsboy Brown and Eddie Booker were my top 2 for many years. Newsboy Brown made it in.
Re: One Pick Only : Very Best Fighter Not In The IBHOF
Ceferino Garcia. He's in the WBHOF but not The IBHOF.

O'Dowd is one that ought to be in, however there are soooo many not yet in the HOF. There's still many from the Pioneer category that are not yet in, like Ireland's Dan Donnelly.

O'Dowd should have been in a LONG time ago, for years he and Klaus were ignored. Klaus finally got in but O'Dowd continues to be left in the dust. Its absolutely ridiculous that guys like Miske got in before Klaus and O'Dowd.

I would like to see Julian Jackson in the IBHOF.
Re: One Pick Only : Very Best Fighter Not In The IBHOF
My annual claim for Tommy Paul. 80-28-10
Paul was rated in the top ten from 1929 to 1934, a total of 66 months over a six year period in the bantamweight and featherweight divisions.
Fought 11 world champions and 8 hall of famers as well as being a world champion himself.

Anybody who looks at Ken Overlin's record would see he deserved to be in years ago. He took on all comers (black + white), never ducked anybody. They stole the title from him in the Soose fight. Word was the New York commission would rather have a "wholesome, college educated fighter" as their champ than a hard drinking, free wheeling ex-gob like Overlin who made no excuses for his lifestyle. Putting up with Lew Jenkins had made them gun shy.

Whoa. Great call on Overlin and I agree. He's so over looked its ridiculous.pbchron wrote:Anybody who looks at Ken Overlin's record would see he deserved to be in years ago.
