Bute wants Froch rematch
http://www.BS.com/lucian-bute- ... och--60066
As the rematch clause was in the initial contract, Bute has every right to trigger it. To me it appears that Bute is using it as one last big payday before Froch retires, with Froch obviously having to agree to it before moving on to the Kessler and (possible) Ward rematches. Anybody else see it any other way? Would the story be any different in Montreal a year on?

Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
Adonis Stevenson is mandatory challenger so something needs to arranged with him too
wether that be that hes paid to step aside or guaranteeing he gets winner of froch v bute remains to be seen
but if hes not taken into consideration froch will be stripped of his belt

Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
he must like the feeling of getting knocked out,i cant see any other out come to fight no matter were the fight is. it could be in canada or usa or britain and froch would beat him every time.
Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
I think that defeat has seriously damaged Bute and he will be on the back foot from the first bell.
Froch beats Bute every day of the week - Bute only had his 0 because of some seriously dodgy officiating against Andrade in their first match.... I'll be putting big money on Bute getting stopped again if this happens.

Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
Frochs biggest weakness used to be closing the gap when fighting movers such as Ward, Dirrell, Bute (to a lesser extent), his new 'bum rush' style seems to have resolved the problem. It's not the prettiest, but it's damned effective when you've got a granite chin to back you up, it'll be interesting to see if it works against someone like Ward though
Froch is looking better than ever IMO, Bute get marmalised inside the distance

To be fair Ward was right on Froch's chest for a lot of the fight, it wasn't like he ran for 12 rounds.Chambers2 wrote:Frochs biggest weakness used to be closing the gap when fighting movers such as Ward, Dirrell, Bute (to a lesser extent), his new 'bum rush' style seems to have resolved the problem. Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
speaking as a big Froch fan, I honestly can't see him avenging the Ward loss. As you say, Ward didn't run, he systematically outboxed Carl from round 1 to 12, and if anything Ward has gotten even better since that fight.jameswilson wrote:To be fair Ward was right on Froch's chest for a lot of the fight, it wasn't like he ran for 12 rounds.Chambers2 wrote:Frochs biggest weakness used to be closing the gap when fighting movers such as Ward, Dirrell, Bute (to a lesser extent), his new 'bum rush' style seems to have resolved the problem. Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
This is disappointing because Bute will only end up getting battered again and it's doubtful Stevenson would take step-aside money, he's 35 and no spring chicken so he wants his hands on a world title asap, I doubt the IBF will grant an extension so Froch will end up being stripped of the title.
Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
You're right he didn't run, but as I recall it Froch found it difficult to pin him down and get his shots off.jameswilson wrote:To be fair Ward was right on Froch's chest for a lot of the fight, it wasn't like he ran for 12 rounds.Chambers2 wrote:Frochs biggest weakness used to be closing the gap when fighting movers such as Ward, Dirrell, Bute (to a lesser extent), his new 'bum rush' style seems to have resolved the problem. It's still gonna be very difficult for Froch to avenge this defeat, but it's a fight I'd like to see in Nottingham (after Bute and Kessler)
Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
Froch is getting to the point where he's above titles now IMO, as everybody is aware of who the top names at 168 are. Fights with Bute,Kessler & Ward are BIG enough to happen without any titles at stake, he shouldn't be held to ransom by Stevenson and whichever pisspot board is trying to force the fight to happenThe_Don1 wrote:This is disappointing because Bute will only end up getting battered again and it's doubtful Stevenson would take step-aside money, he's 35 and no spring chicken so he wants his hands on a world title asap, I doubt the IBF will grant an extension so Froch will end up being stripped of the title.
Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
I'm gald that Bute has activated the rematch clause... It will be fun to see The Cobra bash him up again.

Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
Will Ward come to the UK though? US TV already rejected Froch vs Bute in the past. Sky will want one of them to be a champion, so if Kessler beats Magee he better not vacate.Chambers2 wrote:Froch is getting to the point where he's above titles now IMO, as everybody is aware of who the top names at 168 are. Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
i just can't envision what Bute can do differently in a remtach. I didn't bet nor make a predicition on the first fight because i had a feeling Bute was chinny from the Andrade fight, and Frochs intesity couldve been a nightmare for him (which we seen it was), but at the time i believed Bute was a superior boxer and slicker technician. But now I actually think Froch is technically better. Factor in the mental games & confidence gained/lost by each man, i really cant envision a different outcome. Perhaps Bute could box with greater care & take less chances to last longer but i think Froch unloads hell on him at some point.
Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
Seems like an unnecessary fight for Bute, at least any time soon... I think Bute is pretty solid and can still mix at world level at 168-175. The Froch fight is always there for Bute, due to being a home town draw and Froch looking at it as an easy fight (which to a degree it is). If I was Bute I would rebuild, keep making money, target other belts/ fighters wait another eighteen months or so and then look for a Froch rematch as a cash-out fight. Bute couldnt get his shots off and even when he did tag Froch cleanly he wasnt able to avoid what came back. Froch is great at responding to a shot and everytime he gets hit he responds with something himself, that is always gonna be huge trouble for Bute who has proved he isn't quite as slick as he looks. Bute Vs Kessler, Pascal, Dawson, Cloud, Ward, Groves, Cleverly, Campillo... Some potentially interesting/ winnable fights, he's definatly still in the mix right now, but if Froch trashed him again anytime soon, its a hard road back.
Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
I doubt froch's hands could withstand the abuse of a second fight

Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
Ward only looked uncomfortable against Carl in the last 2/3 rounds and if it had been 15 it would have been interesting. Still comprehensively beat him though. He would win a rematch too I think although it could end up being a touch closer.
Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
It's a shame Stevenson didn't become mandatory earlier (I think his fight vs George was originally due for August but got postponed a couple of times) as Froch/Stevenson would have (a) been a better fight than Froch/Mack and (b) got his mandatory obligations out the way.stujones wrote:Will Ward come to the UK though? It looks like I am the only one on here that thinks Bute will win the rematch. It is a different ball game fighting in front of a hostile crowd.

Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
I see what you mean, but Froch more than anyone will be well equipped enough to overcome that. He's fought away from home on several occasionsforcefraser wrote:It looks like I am the only one on here that thinks Bute will win the rematch. Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
It's a different ball game but it's the same sport, one in which competitors are far less likely to avenge one-sided defeats soon after they occur than is true for team sports. I expect Bute to be more successful than he was in the first bout, but he doesn't have the abilities to beat Froch anywhere. Moreover, the very limited and inexperienced Dennis Grachev arguably won 5 rounds against Bute in front of a hostile crowd, so even if he does benefit from the shift in location, I cannot see it having decisive impact.forcefraser wrote:It looks like I am the only one on here that thinks Bute will win the rematch. I will be surprised if Bute lasts the distance.

Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
Carl said last Saturday that the deadline was the end of this week for Bute to make a decsion but his team had clearly indicated they wanted the fight.
No dramas - if he wanted it there is a contract to be fulfilled.
After that should Carl prevail he will want Kessler in Nottingham hopefully summer City Ground and again it seems Team Kessler are up for it.
However for both fighters there is business to take care of first.
I think the IBF will come up with a solution regarding mandatories etc.
If you were the IBF what would you prefer ?
After all, this is boxing !

Re: Bute wants Froch rematch
I got the impression that Eddie Hearn is hoping the IBF may grant them a temporary pass if you will, to fulfil the contractual agreement with Bute, however that is the only fight Carl would be able to take next other than their mandatory challenger Adonis Stevenson. After which they would insist on the Stevenson fight, only I wouldn't hold my breath on Carl vacating if there's a sniff of a home Kessler fight on the table; that fight would be massive even without a title at stake.Parson Cross wrote:Carl said last Saturday that the deadline was the end of this week for Bute to make a decsion but his team had clearly indicated they wanted the fight.

I might have had some doubt had Bute looked good in his last outing but it looked to me like the same issues were there and Froch would be able to do a number on him again.

I certainly hope that Froch beats him, but I have a niggling suspicion that Bute will land a big shot.
