Rest in peace to the guy, but that we are citing some poor fella's death as the only possibility of success for this Super Featherweight tells us all we need to know about the fight.

Buster Douglas is another perfect example with his mother passing 2 weeks before the Tyson fight. Grief can galvanize you in this situation!

Didn't Spinks' wife die shortly before the Qawi fight and had a shed collapse just before going out when his daughter asked where she was?

Howard Davis won Gold a week after his mum died.

That's a shame, hopefully the lad can make the most of his opportunity

I'm guessing this is the reason he has pulled out of the show then.

On the beeb, they are saying Burns will still fight but probably not in a title defence.

Bunny needs to deliver big for Burns and Clev very soon

Top quality reporting from the Glasgow Evening Times: "The battle with the big hitting WBO ranked No.14 fighter was seen as the perfect stepping stone to a New Year unification fight with WBC champion Adrien Broner."

If this was a Matchroom bill, Hearn would be getting some right stick now. 8)

And even worse in a way from the BBC website, no less:

"The WBO world lightweight champion was due to make the third defence of his belt against the 23-year-old Filipino, ranked 14th in the world."

This is why the proliferation of governing bodies is so harmful. Well, one of the reasons.

I'm sure those articles are just lifted wholesale from the press release.

As if they're actually chasing a unification fight with Broner.
