I agree 100%TJ77 wrote:I think fairplay for stepping up not seen much of Byrne but will be a good indicator fight for him.
Carson Jones very nearly upset the apple cart last time i think he will become a gate keeper like Ndou on these shores. Was short notice and wont mean anything other than those who bought tickets get to see Jones get a run out.Think some people should take a breath before calling it a joke.
I doubt Jones knocked back Thompson went 12 rounds wi Brook easily the best welter we have not likely to start
quaking from unknowns is he .

We were never offered Thompson. Never heard of him. And we were willing to fight anyone up to the level of Purdy.

Hopefully the Purdy fight can still be made in the new year, Carson can earn some good money over here

Really, how does that work then, you'd think your boy gets paid what he was offered to come over here in the first place? What's the other option , no fight and no money..BobbyDobbs wrote:A lot less than we were making for Purdy!Final round wrote:I wonder how much dough Jones is getting for this christmas gift.
Does Carson work for Matchroom promotions now? or was this options from the Kell Brook fight?

He probably does Kell stops him this time unfortunately for Carson he gave Brook the kick up the arse he needed no sign of him at Ryan Rhodes retirement doo and spending christmas in the gym in vegas.A much fitter Brook puts Jones away .IronLiver wrote:sweetscience wrote:Yeah but he will be getting paid less.... They postponed the fight with Purdy and gave us the Byrne fight to compensate us for what happened. But for half the purse we were getting originally. Matchroom has treated us well and are a class organization. Carson isn't signed with them nor do they have options.Final round wrote:Really, how does that work then, you'd think your boy gets paid what he was offered to come over here in the first place? Jones will slaughter Bryne, I think after a minute it won't be competitive and Bryne will do well to see round 3 in. I'm not saying Jones is a world beater, I don't think he is, but he is at least 3 classes above Bryne.

Although it must be a bit of a setback not getting what your team had planned to earn it sounds like you've been treated well by Matchroom, credit to themBobbyDobbs wrote: They postponed the fight with Purdy and gave us the Byrne fight to compensate us for what happened. Carson won fans over here after his performance against Brook and deservedly won the BBBofC overseas fighter of the year award.

Camacho/Owoh has also fallen through.
Re: ITS CARSON JONES v DEAN BYRNE
Fair play to Dean for stepping in at short notice but no chance of winning unfortunately.
Re: ITS CARSON JONES v DEAN BYRNE
Fair play to Dean Bryne, made me look like a fool! Yes Jones was lethargic and one paced but Bryne was twice as good as I've ever seen him. Yes he faded later on but I thought he be getting starfished in a couple of rounds, never close to it!
Well done Dean, fought your heart out - respect!

Well done Dean.DavidPayne wrote:Terry Holmes - a novice from Graham Earl's camp - had it him in all sorts of trouble, all over the place and beat him over 8.
On that evidence, Carson should straighten him out in three rounds.
Gutsy performance.
