Online Boxing Magazine Archive
Hi guys,
I have been moving ahead with my idea for an online boxing magazine archive. I had a question: Should I leave out the wrestling stuff in some of these magazines? So far I have been (because any real boxing fan knows wrestling is garbage
) but I was curious what others thought.

Re: Online Boxing Magazine Archive
I think its an important piece of history. Mind you boxers often stepped into the pseudo-sport of wrestling alot back then. They did updates constantly on Carnera, Baer, Louis, Dempsey, etc. and their involvement in the sport. Danny Hodge was another. I think it is interesting how discussions in some of the old magazines would talk about NYSAC rulings, etc on wrestling matches the same as they did for boxing (mind you wasnt until the 1980s the cat was out of the bag for wrestling). Still, I can see how it could be not added into the boxing collections.

What a great idea...but sounds like years of work...
Personally, I'd never read a sentence of the wrestling stuff but might be mroe work to take it out than leave it in...
I really hope this comes off...

Leave it all in. Warts and all. It's a record of past times and schools of thought.
Won't you run into copyright issues?

Not if I run it like a torrent site.
Ive pretty much decided to leave out the wrestling stuff. Scanning is time consuming and leaving out those pages saves time. Im only leaving in the pages that have references to boxing or boxers who are involved somehow in wrestling.
Its pretty fun though. Im loving being able to just search a name of a fighter and have it pop up every mention of him in all of the magazines Ive scanned. makes research ten times faster.

Are you planning to up each issue as a pdf or cbr/cbz then?

Good stuff.

Im sure that some people who are interested in the history of wrassling would be interested.
Is there a story about Paul Bunyan aka Max Palmer aka The Clarksdale Giant?
He was 7 ft 7 inches tall and wrassled from around 1955-1960.
he had admitted years later that he usually was drunk when he entered the ring.
