Was anyone actually inpressed with Flintoff?

One thing that impressed me was how much weight he lost & how lean he was.

He was never that light, even in his pomp as test cricketer.

Either, cricketers are not as fit as they should be, or do they need the extra timber or something?

I was impressed with his attitude

But after two months of boxing I knew when sparring to throw a jab, very straight right and step inside and hook the body. Not windmill uncontrollably

In front of 6000 people? I don't think so.

Unless anyone can provide proof, from a more reliable source than the above that it wasn't 6000 in attendance, I'm happy to believe Freddie drew 6000.

I think you've misunderstood my comment mate - I was referring to the tough guy who knew how to "step inside and hook to the body" etc after 2 months !

to be fair, its takes balls getting in the ring. But i have to say i never weatched it live, But as me a friend watched ringside on thursday we found ourselves in fits laughing at of bad it was. its was like a charity boxing match. And im 99% convinced the other guy was payed off, after putting flintoff down he didnt bother throwing anything for about 30 seconds. Any normal boxer would have followed up and put pressure on him.

Takes balls to get in the ring and even spar so fair play to him on that front. His career in the "limelight" ( he is a legend in his own eyes no doubt ) would have helped regarding the fighting in front of 6k fans.

Not impressed with his ability though. Seen people progress a lot faster than him in a similar amount of time, if indeed he only donned the gloves from the start of filming which we all know he didn't ( he has been in and around gyms for a few years now and mates with a few fighters etc )

Hopefully this is it for him as he will get hurt if he carries on, and this is coming from someone who doesn't find him remotely likeable.

Sorry, I don't buy this at all. There are plenty of novice ams who have their fundamentals in place to a better degree in their first fight in front of a crowd and unlike them Flintoff has experience from cricket about performing in front of a big crowd.

Yeah but offal I'v seen kids throwing proper straight punches after a week on the pads. Dan works by the notion that if you say it enough times people might forget what the counter-argument was.
