July 16, 1918 MSG Card
Does anyone know why the bouts on this benefit card are not in the database? This was a benefit at Madison Square Garden for the War Dept. Training Camp Activities Fund. Although one bout in particular, Packey McFarland EXH3 Danny Fields, is clearly labeled an exhibition by the NY TIMES and THE WORLD newspapers, the Benny Leonard W4 Willie Jackson, Augie Ratner W4 Sgt. Ross, George Ashe-Billy Miske, Kid Norfolk W4 Battling Jim Johnson, and Joe Lynch W4 Dick Loadman are not so described, and appear to have been legitimate bouts. $20,000 was raised.

Matt, I'll email the ProQuest NYT article to you; then you can help me decide the results. Robin might do his own ProQuest search. I've already emailed the article to Delisa. I suspect that, yeah, they should probably be designated NDs. After you guys read the article, let me know, and I'll make any necessary changes/deletions.
Clearly they were advertised as legit bouts and reported as from what you sent. They fought for free, but does that necessarily mean they were exhibitions? I know I've entered benefit shows before. I'd actually put them in there, I still wonder why no other previous compiler managed to put them in an official record for Leonard or Joe Lynch.
