wow great fight!!!

happy for marquez but posts like this are just nonsense... pacquiao was starting to take over after a big round 5, wants to win in style but in doing so walks into a huge right hand that would've ko'd most welterweights.

guess you think lewis should've hung em up after being ktfo by mccall/rahman or hearns after hagler etc

pacquiao is a proud man, so he'll want to train like a demon and redeem himself... you can gaurantee a fifth fight will happen and I can see it selling even better than their first four fights

Well all he has to do as a job is work out... and sometimes comment on a mexican tv show on boxing. He now is higher in weight so can actually put muscle on. Maybe legit supplements.... you do know some actually work i.e. protein, creatine, etc Or who knows maybe he actually applied good weightlifting discipline. The guy is an accountant, pretty sure he is capable of calculating a work out routine.

maybe this is shocking for overweight americans.... but muscles does not equate roids. Some people actually have the will to work out. Especially when your job depends on it. Don't use Arreola as the measuring stick of boxing bodies.
Yeah, that may be true. I was just giving reasons why it's fair to discuss it. No need to insult an entire country.
It's not insulting to say that the fattest country in the world is fat.

If evidence emerges, fine.
Until then, these people should just give due credit.

I don't care what anybody says. I don't care about roids. They put on a good fight, that's all that I give two shits about. Don't give an excuse to degrade anybody.

I agree 100%

iam a fan of both, being mexican dosent stop me from respecting and admiring what pacquiao has acomplished all these years, he is simply a legend.

I oviously was rooting for marquez, but as a boxing fan and as a fan of both fighters i hate to see them hurt. I agree that these two guys make great matchups but im not sure if i want to see them fight a fifht time, i would simply hate to see any of them loosing again or even worse getting severely hurt. I wouldnt mind seeing manny and juan manuel retiring after this one. Would really hate to see them loose against less talented but maybe younger guys who wouldnt even have a chance in any of these two primes.

Talking about roids without any proof is just stupid, working with an ex cheat dosent make you a cheat and i honestly believe in Marquez's work in camp. Of couse youre gonna look huge after lifting weighs and eating more protein in your diet, its just muscle, tonight i saw a slower (muscles) marquez but i believe he knew he would sacrifice some speed in exchange for power.

Good post, I honestly believe Marquez is a great example of a guy who was a long-time user of "classic" training methods that are just boxing based. Road work, sparring, heavy bag, speed bag, double-end bag, bobbing and weaving under a rope, shadow boxing, etc. But without much though given to body weight, HIIT, and plyometric intensity exercises that are useful for fast-twitch muscle development and short bursts of energy to supplement the endurance that goes with most Boxers, and he recently added that with his new conditioning and diet program.

Marquez is going to piss hot.
No he wont...the old days of "pissing hot" are basically over..unless your Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. smoking a blunt the nite before a big fight...

We are now in the HGH era of sports...old roids that were normally detected on piss tests like Testosterone injectables or Dianabol pills are no longer widely used by elite athletes.

HGH requires a blood test and has a half life of only an hour or two...almost impossible to bust somebody on it...

We'll never know the truth so we'll assume Marquez was legit....period
:box:
Are you saying that HGH is a substitute for anabolic steroids? If you are you know nothing about either.

Oh, if somebody's juicing, that's a big deal. But there's absolutely no reason to degrade anyone when there's no evidence of it in this instance.

Yeah, Martinez was in the house and they showed him on camera. Personally I though more of Pacquiao-Hatton, because Martinez had fuller extension on the cross he hit Williams with, whereas the crosses landed on Manny and Ricky were both short chopping shots that the guy ran right into the center of.

This fight was won by the lefthook to the body and the left jab. JMM moved Pac left with his bodywork. The feint left set up the repeated big rights.

I had it 48-47 JMM going into the 6th. Pac was winning the 6th. He hit the canvas as the bell rang ending 6, but, imo, it was only a matter of time. JMM had him set up. JMM got caught thinking he had Pac ready for the fork in round 5.

He's obviously got good judgement like me, I've only seen a Russian version. :D
A Russian version? They didn't televise it in England?

The Dark Destroyer wrote:Are there any replays from a different angle of the right hand that Marquez lands on Pac halfway through the fifth? It's obscured by Bayless on my copy of the fight.

Is that the one, straight after Marquez gets up, & Pac walks straight into what seemed to be an overhand right--like a rehearsal of the knockout--as he's steaming straight into Marquez? Made Roy go "OOooooooOOOOHHHHH!" & nearly even shut up Lampley....? There was a left uppercut soon after it, slowed the exchange right down & really hurt Pac too.

If it is that shot, PM me if you find a decent look at that mate. Mine's the same as yours...

I think that shot turned the fight tbh. Pac came through it but it slowed his attack & put him off for a few crucial cobwebs to clear out of JMM's head.

EDIT: PM sent. Yes, I think it must be those two, in the international Top Rank broadcast you can see both punches clearly.
