Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
I thought Danny Williams had retired, but he's fighting the small but tough journeyman heavyweight Denis Bakhtov tomorrow in Russia.

He got his license back this week.
Bakhtov is tough, it is coming to the point were Danny is going to get seriously hurt.

Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
Unless Bakhtov has seriously regressed he is by far the best guy Williams has faced lately. Bakhtov by KO in the first 2.
Did Williams ever do that unlicenced show?

Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
Dennis Bakhtov is only a tough plodder really who does find out some flawed (i.e. chinny) heavyweights like Steffen Kretschmann. He got stopped by little Matthew Ellis way back in 2000, so he's been around a long time too. Granted at this stage he's probably got a fair bit more to offer than Danny. I imagine Danny can land a few shots though and get towards the middle rounds before calling it a night.
Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
Danny seems to be a bit of a loon these days. I don't think he knows what he wants. The phone must ring and it's simply too tempting to take the free flights and hotels and the few thousand quid purses. You can't blame him really but you can only get battered so many times before you start to face the consequences.

Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
FFS give it up Danny, get some door work, security or something..I think he should go and see someone like Howard Clark to see what he could face in later life the more punishment he takes.
Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
Its ashame to see this happening ,a once decent fighter go on to become a shadow of himself ....
Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
I hope Danny's racking up the frequant flyer points. That's the only positive I thing I can say.

Will this even be on TV?Freedom2013 wrote:I thought Danny Williams had retired, but he's fighting the small but tough journeyman heavyweight Denis Bakhtov tomorrow in Russia.

I would love to see the old Danny come out and destroy him but after watching his last fights, I can't see that happening.jameswilson wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1V-T3fZEb0

Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
I remember having a huge discussion on that on eastside just after the fight. Some German was making out that Sam was the second coming of Sonny Liston and I said anyone fighting him just has to defend or move when he sticks his arm out to the side to forecast his uppercut coming. The German very sarcastically retaliated by saying 'why dont you become a boxing coach if you think you know so much.'rhino222 wrote:nice to see the uppercuts being thrown without being forecast!! .....jameswilson wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1V-T3fZEb0

And to think I thought sarcasm was a British trait.

Danny's punch resistance has long since left the building.
The man is a disaster waiting to happen.
I just can't understand how people like him can satisfy authorities that they are fit to box

I'm in two minds about this I don't want to see Danny get bashed up again and I'd love to see him flatten this bloke BUT if he does/did win he will carry and it may lead to a bigger fight against someone who will damage him.
I did't see the fat fin, but I saw the other one on Eurosport. I still think he could fight but not at 20 stone.
Didn't he knock Charr down?

bakhtov is an average punching pressure fighter....perfectly decent former b-class.

Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
Danny lost a UD shut-out on the cards over 10 rounds. Maybe it was closer, it was Russia after all. Not seen a report yet.

Re: Danny Williams vs. Denis Bakhtov
Yeah like I said, we don't know how biased the cards were to the home fighter.
