I dunno bout that, if someone was trying to force themselves on one of my underage kin and I lived in a country where having a gun was the norm, I'd prob do the same whether I could "take" the guy or not. Just to let them know how far it will go if he persists, I.E. it won't stop at a bit of a beating, it's more serious than that. Also, Tyson pulled guns on lots of people that I dare say he could have intimidated with his physical prowess, doesn't mean he was scared each time. I think that's a street thing, kind of the only language they understand. Nothing to stop them coming back with a gun themselves kind of mentality.

As for Tyson throwing the coward accusations about, the ear biting, woman beating and behaviour at the Lewis press conferences were hardly examples of bravery and valor.

I LOVE MIKE as much as anyone, but some of the shit he did was inexcusable. I don't think he did rape Washington but then I think to myself, he's prob mistreated a whole bunch of women in his time if not her. They r all someone's daughter/sister. And I think he'd admit that himself.

I was gona put that, but the guy obv doesn't know teddys history. He was a naughty boy. Tyson talks a good street life but he was out of it by fourteen really. Being groomed for big things. Teddy was the real deal.

Hahaha a badass who can whup a bar full of redneck racists and had full time professional (world ranked) boxers scared to death, all over a few bread crumbs left in the butter - Teddy had an Avenue life not a street life.

Floyd Patterson had virtually the same upbringing, including the Cus D'Amato involvement as Tyson. So how do you all compare Patterson with Tyson,as both a boxer and a human being? I know that in his later years Patterson didn't even like to be in the same room as Tyson.

I've read Floyds autobiograpy; 'Victory Over Myself'; Patterson came across as a really decent man, thoughtful and considerate - he was a better human being than most of us, though he had his faults and I imagine Tyson was a more 'damaged'/vicious individual. Tyson was the better boxer and would have beat Floyd up bad.

Teddy Atlas's own toupee is afraid of Teddy. He has to glue it to his head so it doesn't run away.

True, that would have spelled out clearly how serious things would have got had he carried on. I was just speculating would teddy have pulled a gun on any 15 year old who would he have just threatened to bash em up. Or was it the fact it was Tyson he went straight for the peacemaker.

Oh yeah I'm sure him being Tyson did have an influence. But not just his physicality, also the fact that he was slightly unhinged mentally and that would make him even more of a danger. I doubt he'd have listened to anything else. He was still a very disrespectful little animal despite the myth that cus had him on the straight and narrow. If he'd have lived, Tyson would have broken the old mans heart I feel. Thing with these street kids is they are all or nothing, they wont just heed a warning. Sometime you either have to totally irradicate the problem or the little fukks will never let the grudge die.

I actually had an incident in my past where a mentally unstable bloke started obsessing with my girlfriend. Following her home and stalking her basically. I had a bit of a ruck with him and got the better of him but it didn't make any difference, he just could not grasp what he was doing wrong. He got sectioned in the end. Was a scarey situation and pretty much finished the relationship.

Yeah I reckon you're bang on about Tyson street animals don't back down. I wonder is Cus influence stopped that thing with Teddy going further . Because you'd imagine the street Tyson would have carried it further out of disrespect shown.
Regarding the stalker that's a nasty situation to be in, hopefully he backed off after been sectioned?

It's so hard to know how a peak Tyson would have done against other greats. Perhaps there's some clue by Lewis' inability to effectively contain Tyson in that first round, and the fact the first Holyfield fight was pretty even for say 6 rounds. It could be argued that Lewis and Holyfield were near their peaks. If Tyson had been too perhaps he could have done far better.

I think Tyson may have realised he had quite a bit to lose by retaliating at that stage. He was on to a cushy little number at Catskills, it was prob either let it go or back to being locked up. When teddy put a gun in his face it must have made him think 'shit this is for all the marbles' and when push came to shove he realised it would be more trouble that it was worth. Basically by that show of extreme behaviour, teddy got the reaction he wanted I.E. mike realised he wasn't untouchable and backed down, it broke his will like we later saw possible in the ring.

But don't get me wrong I love mike. And we weren't there so who the fuk knows for real? Mikes prob is he had a huge ego but no self esteem if that maes sense.

Will regard my situation, the guy was locked up for a long time and I bumped into him in a pub about eight years later. He looked a bit broken and worse for wear. Poor sod apologised and said he had no recollection of what he was doing at the time, away with the fairies. I actually felt sorry for him. But it was a horrible mess, I remember hitting the guy full pelt and he just had a vacant deranged look in his face as he egged me on to do it again. He was pointing to body parts and saying "do it there cos I'll die if you do..." and freaky shit like that. Made be a bit shakey in my own mind for a bit when it was all done. He was punching my ex's car window and pulling at the handle shouting 'get out and tell me u love me...' can u imagine how stressful?

Great fighter in his early days but once people like Holyfield showed up , who could not be intimidated, his bubble burst, and the playground bully was put in his place!

I agree im bored to death of all these "talks"...tyson has probably said more about his life and had it printed or broadcast than any fighter ever.Theres nothing new to say about his boxing career.
He didnt waste "a billion dollars" thats a ridiculous laughable figure. He may have grossed a billion dollars for others, the casinos, the promoters and tv companies but he would have seen perhaps 100 million net, and yes he wasted it. Although i strongly suspect in his middle aged wisdom he still has $10-15 million tucked away but doesnt show it on his accountants advice.
Holyfield butted Tyson to beat him twice.

And the rest of your post is ignorant garbage and who made u the judge jury and executioner

 Absolute nonsence. This is the man who did help the poor in his hometown of Brownsville and also helped/helps a lot of charities. Just that it has never been highly advertised. Also a 'conviction' does not in every case mean 'you' committed he crime, come on even you must know how the bent system works. Racist? Yes, I imagine he was being so close to and spoke/speaks highly off his father figure Cus D' Amato and his wife who was white? Being a great fan of Jack Dempsey..Who happened to have white skin? And being surrounded those of white skin throughout most parts of his life? Instead of asking the question "Was the colour of Bill Cayton and Kevin Rooney's skin anything to do with them being sacked", you could also question 'Was the colour of Bill Cayton and Kevin Rooney's skin anything to do with him getting with them in the first place'

Boardering being a peadophile? Are you serious? Teddy Atlas put a gun to Tyson's head because a very young Tyson was attempting to 'get it on' with a female from Atlas's family who was of simular age to Tyson.

Who are 'all the selfish and evil people' Tyson surrounded himself with? And what is so selfish and evil about Mike McCallum? And has Tyson spent alot of time in his company anyway?

Yes, great fighter in his early days, but it was his lifestyle later on which had more of an effect on his career rather than opponents not being intimidated.

Wonder if Desiree Washington is still traumatised? What you mean the woman who was flirting with him and went up to his room at 2am to play cards? :-? Yeah, I bet she is still traumatised with the amount of publicity and money she got from interviews etc. What 'different crime' are you suggesting Tyson has moved on to then by the way? You appear very bitter, whats your problem?
Teddy Atlas is a fuckng coward! As Tyson said about 2 years ago when he was interviewed by Graham Bensinger (when asked about all the insults Teddy throws Mike's way)

"Graham, let me tell you something. Teddy put a gun to my head when I was 14 because he knew what would happen if he didn't have that gun. I'm now 43 years of age & let me tell you, Teddy will never ever says what he says to my face, nose to nose, because he knows what would happen. If I have a problem with someone, I do something about it, I get in front of their face & show them that nobody takes liberties with Mike Tyson! Teddy is a coward. He would never ever have the balls to get in front of my face & say all the shit he does, to face!"

Tyson would have annihilated Atlas when he was 14, & he'd annihilate him now!
Agreed Atlas has a very big mouth and frequently questions the courage and psyche of fighters. Yet where was his own courage the day he started a fight with ricardo salazar and got his face pulped and quit.

He also had the power to decide who surrounded him.
Kind of, but I think thats a bit simplistic overall. Tysons power was in the ring, he was vunerable to the likes of Don King.

Did he mention any run-ins with The Proggy Snatcher?

Tyson: I agree that he was overrated overall, but I think he had the greatest long-range left to the body. When he was young, that is.

His build afforded him a really strong core, and he had powerful legs and forearms, so he was able to coil into a left body shot and maintain its power through an extended arm. It's one of the hardest punches to learn, but with his amazing balance he was completely at home with it; just an absolute natural. Ditto his left hook, but that's easier to master because it has the rotation but not the extension.

The majority of boxers with great body shots are predisposed to looping their punches, but Tyson had great straight punches, too. We just didn't see them as much when he was giving up a decent amount of height. I.e. in most fights.

It's a moot point because cruiserweight was 190 at the time and the big money and fame was at heavy, but I think it's likely Tyson could've made 200, and he'd have been a GoAT contender for sure at that weight. Holyfield, Frazier, Marciano, Dempsey...

Precisely, people are very conniving once they see money - I've seen someone in my own family act like a vampire with a dying relative over their money - and he was a good man at heart, the money turned him into a bit of a pudendum.

That was only 450,000, imagine that multiplied a thousand times, and you can see how many nasty bastards are going to flock around you to feed off your money.

It's happened to countless boxers, not just Tyson. It's the combination of ego, drive, wealth, and power, it can turn anyone's life upside down, especially if they are young and not worldly wise.
