Lennox Lewis vs. Ike Ibeabuchi

Post by kovit »

Who will win this battle and I will say Lennox Lewis winning by a knockout in the 5th round. They will say Ike Ibeabuchi winning, but I think it's a joke and a bunch of crap. Ike never show anything good, because he's in prison, so you can't say Ike beat Lewis. Ike's power was good, but Lewis will still beat him by a knockout will be too much for Ike.

I absolutely hate it that I am responding to an Ike thread but I have reserved the right to chime in anywhere anytime. My one small comment would be that either the Ike or Tua that showed up the night they fought each other would give Lennox all he could handle. Tua never seemed the same after that fight. We'll never know what that fight took out of Ike but I assume he was improving and it might not bode well for Lennox or Vitali for that matter.

However he is where he belongs right now, in jail and except for this thread, forgotten.

Since Ibeabuchi proved he could beat the ruggedest man in the division in a toe to toe war, and then catch and knock out the fastest. I'll pick him to KO Lennox Lewis in about 8 rounds. Then perhaps in the rematch Lewis would put on the performance of a lifetime and win back his title by a close decision.

Ike/Lewis

Ike definitely would have taken it to Lewis and probably KO'ed him in the later rounds. He was just as big and probably stronger than Lennox. He would have banged Lewis' body and punched up the middle on him. If they did rematch, Lewis would have been too wary and tried to fight from outside. But Lewis does tire in later rounds, so I'd see Ike out-hustling him and winning the re-match also.

So it seems the consensus of posters so far is that Ike was one of the great HW's of all time? Or was it just that his style was made for beating Lewis? Or maybe Lewis just wasn't really that good? Which one guys?

Personally, I think Lewis would have taken him to school and won a hard fought UD.

Well Lewis beat Tua in a pretty easy go. A few people thought Tua beat Ike. So thats not a bad call based on the work these guys have turned in.

No, I'm not saying Ike could have been great. I do think his style would have allowed him to beat Lewis once and twice. I don't think Ike could have held onto his belt for very long though. One of the K-bros probably would have taken it from him.

Lewis would have won on points.

The fight would have been similar to the Tua fight, although Ike would have given Lewis more to worry about, because he would actually have thrown some Right hands too! :o

Lennox would win by close decision in 12, but it wouldn't surprise me if Ike kayoed him.
