love to see a rematch with George groves next year
You talk like Degale beating Abraham is a given, like its just a matter of timing!

Degale has a long way to go and an awful lot to prove before he convinces me that he can hang with the likes of Abraham. He has been beaten by Groves who still has a lot to prove himself, and he has young Chris Eubank chasing his tail. The jury is still out on him, for me its not a given that he will ever challenge for a world title.

I couldn't. I just couldn't....

It would just involve touching a blood-relative of DeGale. That's up there with sexual intercourse with your mother on the gross scale.

I guess that I see Abraham as very beatable, and DeGale as having all the right skills. I think if he fought right, he'd beat him tomorrow; all you have to do is stay out of the way, and throw more punches than him, and DeGale is well equipped to do that. Trouble is, he's shown an alarming tendency to get drawn into a firefight, which against an absolute cannon like Abraham is suicide, and he likes to come off his toes and lay against the ropes, which will result in him looking like he's been run over by a truck. If he'd boxed smart and mobile against his last two opponents, I think you'd have to be crazy to bet against him against Abraham, but he hasn't, and it pisses me off no end.

I bet degale, Olympic gold medalist, British & commonwealth title holder at one time & now European champion after only 15 fights is really glad for all the advice of mostly arm chair experts on here or people that didnt achieve half as much as he has.. Good job you guys are here to keep all these tip fighters on the right track & give them boxing tips isn't it

Degale's physique looked a bit fleshy to me Saturday and it's all about workrate and stamina to beat Abraham who waits until he sees signs of tiring before letting those brick-fists go.

Abraham has some chilling knockouts and I thought he was all set to scalp Dirrell in their fight. Froch and Ward were too big and strong for him.

I'd suggest a busy 2013 then look at 2014 to pick off some (fading) big names. There is no rush with Degale just yet.

CheckHook wrote:Froch is a better boxer than he is given credit for I think.... He had the jab in Abrahams face all night and never let himself get caught on the ropes and maintained his stamina well. Anytime Abraham came alive in that fight Froch would string 5+ straight shots together and put Abraham back in his shell. Abraham can definatly be outboxed and if you keep punching he wont drop his guard all night, but when Degale wants to buy a break, which he will, Abraham will unload and land hard shots. Right now, I don't think Degale would go the distance, first four might go his way, but he would get pinned down, opened up and hurt as the fight went on. Abraham is being way under rated due to his cagey style/ low output and the depth of talent at 168. He'd eat up Degale if they fought right now.
Agree with this :TU:

Think it's too soon for Degale to face AA, as it's a matter of if when not if he gets caught fighting the way he does at the moment. AA was catching Dirrell (and would've stopped him IMO) before the DQ and Dirrell is a far more talented and skilled boxer than Degale could ever hope to be. It's just a shame he's lacking in the bollocks department.

God forbid that sports fans should discuss the performance of the competitors in their sport. We should learn to sit in respectful silence, then go home and reflect on all that we've learned.

That's a ridiculous question! Why didn't Angelo Dundee win the Rumble in the Jungle? Why didn't Cus D'Amato knock out Trevor Berbick. Why isn't Alex Ferguson the leading goal scorer at United? I'm not saying any of us belong in such exalted company, but clearly, knowing how the sport works is not the same as being good at it personally. At 15, I picked Sugar Ray to beat Hagler, and I predicted how he would do it, bang on. Does that mean I'm better than Hagler? Of course it doesn't, it just means I can read a fight, and I was right.
