Betting thread
Re: Betting thread
I'm glad Marquez won as it will pay for Christmas, he must have been heavily backed as I saw him go from 5/2 to 13/8 on William Hill.
Groves pts v Johnson is probably the next flutter.

Re: Betting thread
So this is the big question. Will Groves be able to keep Glen off for 12 rounds and pick and prod himself to a wide points victory or will Johnson be too much for him and force a stoppage. GJ is at 9/2 just to win outright at the moment so it'll be interesting to see what the stoppage odds are.
Re: Betting thread
To be honest I think Johnson has slipped quite a bit of late and although still a pressure fighter, I don't think its as hard to keep him off. Yes, he could land a booming right hand and drop Groves but Adam Booth is a smart man and I am sure he will have drilled GG on movement and angles and avoiding the right. The Insider wrote:So this is the big question. The 2 scenarios I see are Groves wide pts or Johnson being stopped on by an overcautious ref due to taking a few clean shots. Depends on the odds as to the value/versus probability.

Re: Betting thread
Looks like the bookies aren't giving us much again this weekend so I reckon a little punt on the underdogs might be in order. Bob Ajisafe being the pick of them to win imo. Bob can hit pretty hard and has mixed in the better company and if Dickinson can't keep him under control from the off he may find Bob more than a hand full. Other 2 to keep an eye on are Glen Johnson and Nick Blackwell. If I'm being truthful I don't really expect either to win but the bookies odds are so poor on the favorites I just can't bring myself to bet on them. No stoppage odds are available yet but a patent of Ajisafe and Johnson by stoppage and Blackwell winning are my fun bet for the weekend.

Whats peoples thoughts on khan? Im thinking a khan win on a mid to late stoppage.
Virgil hunter will obviously have been working on his defence so i doubt he will come out all guns blazing from the off

Re: Betting thread
I've been burnt by Khan in his last 2 fights now so there's no way I'll be backing him again. His odds of 1/14 for this are just laughable given his fragile chin.Bennyblanco wrote:Whats peoples thoughts on khan? Im thinking a khan win on a mid to late stoppage.

Re: Betting thread
I've been thinking of laying a bit on Khan 1-6 @ 11/10. I've watched a little bit of Molina and he isn't very good and gets hit pretty easily plus he is a lightweight. Khan is always a fast starter and I think he will blitz Molina out of it.

The only boxing bet with any value at all this weekend. If you find anything else please tell me otherwise.

Each to their own but I wouldn't call that 'value' Johnson is a shell of the fighter he once was. There's probably better value in backing Khan to get chinned yet again, or even better value putting the cash on the lottoThe Insider wrote:Glen Johnson 11/2 win and 15/2 KO.The Insider wrote:Looks like the bookies aren't giving us much again this weekend so I reckon a little punt on the underdogs might be in order. Re: Betting thread
That shell gave Froch a few problems and I'd say he's better than Anderson who very nearly done a number on Groves. As said its a fun bet and odds of 6/1 just for the win prove its a very improbable chance but a few of these outside bets have come in of late and if I were setting the odds Johnson would be no more than 3s so to me it represents value.Hagler2002 wrote:Each to their own but I wouldn't call that 'value' Johnson is a shell of the fighter he once was. Re: Betting thread
Not great value but I think i might put a large wedge on Sam Webb and Brian Rose to go the distance @ 4/6
Both are not big puchers at all and I can see this one going to points

Re: Betting thread
Little accumulator with odds of just over 50/1
BJS points, Ajisafe win, Groves points and Khan rounds 7-12.
Having seen Glen Johnson on the scales I think he looks like shit but will still have a little side bet on him as a cover. Will also have a tiny bet on Blackwell as it would break my heart if he won and I didn't back him.

Re: Betting thread
Got 1/3 of treble up - rose pts, saunders 1-6 and khan 1-6 pays just over 8's.
Also going to do dickinson (4/7) and o'meara (11/8) on a double. Think o'meara is a cracking price

I've got a little treble on Groves in 8-12 or points @ 2/5, BJS ko/tko 1/3 and Dickinson 8/13.
All 3 2/1

Everyone's talking like Johnson got the shit kicked out of him by Fonfara. He didn't. He was just more cautious than usual, not moving forward as much as he did even vs Froch. But I honestly think he didn't look THAT much worse than he did vs Froch. Maybe it's just me.
Johnson is going to stop Groves late and I'll be betting on it.

Khan rounds 8-12 or points at 11/8 looks quite good too
