Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
Re: Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
BJS looks like he's just going through the motions no urgency

Re: Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
BJS has every punch in the book, but when he lands clean, he's not really getting his weight behind them. And he needs to, because he doesn't want too many long hard 12 rounders like this, if he's going to go all the way.
Think he's not sure about pacing himself either, as he's going full tilt here, and is bound to run out of steam a bit....

Blackwell just can't quite pin him down on the ropes. He works him on to them but just gets turned before landing the big shots on Saunders.

BJS winning clearly

If Blackwell had any sort of power whatsoever BJS would've been out of there tonight, imo.
Re: Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
Great effort from Blackwell in the last session. Good job they drafted in the Enzo timekeeper to ring the bell 20 seconds early
Re: Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
20 seconds of the round left when the bell went???

Good fight. Billy boxed well and was slippy as hell. Nick can keep his head high though, just needs a bit of polishing. Nick didn't blink when billy hit him so I reserve judgement how he would fair against Murray and Macklin.
Re: Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
Had to laugh at the commentators' response to BJS' swipe at Blackwell when he was walking over to get his glove tape cut off. "Defend yourself at all times, entitled to take a shot etc etc" surely not when the opponent is defenceless and clearly waving his glove in the air.

Blackwell was stupid, he deserved to get hit.steve689 wrote:Had to laugh at the commentators' response to BJS' swipe at Blackwell when he was walking over to get his glove tape cut off. Re: Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
Quite right, the referee did not call "stop boxing" and as such BJS had the right to throw a punch. Not very sporting but within the rules and remember " DEFEND YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES"Horse wrote:Blackwell was stupid, he deserved to get hit.steve689 wrote:Had to laugh at the commentators' response to BJS' swipe at Blackwell when he was walking over to get his glove tape cut off. Don't say that to Floyd Mayweather.steve689 wrote:Had to laugh at the commentators' response to BJS' swipe at Blackwell when he was walking over to get his glove tape cut off. Fair play to Blackwell, he fought well and his defense was sound, but needed to let his hands go more when catching up with Saunders, Blackwell raised his game and has improved since Murray, Saunders might as well forget the big 3 for a while.

I, d like 4o see Bus against Eubanks Jr
Re: Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
Yes, I agree. Blackwell is good, Saunders didn't really trouble him overly; I'd imagined that BJS would steamroller him. The big 3 are too big, strong and powerful for Saunders at this stage. Not a bad bout at all.ta596 wrote:Fair play to Blackwell, he fought well and his defense was sound, but needed to let his hands go more when catching up with Saunders, Blackwell raised his game and has improved since Murray, Saunders might as well forget the big 3 for a while.

Really impressed with Blackwell last night, looks a very good porspect, came up short against the better technical fighter last night, but I can still see Blackwell having a lot to offer at domestic level in the next few years.
Re: Nick Blackwell plans a shock for Billy Joe Saunders
Dont always blame the timekeeper there could be another reason John Rawling of allegedly said the bell went 20 seconds early, perhaps he forgot to start his own stop watch on time that is possible. allegedly & Sky do not bother to stop their watches when the ref orders a timeout giving out a false ending to a round, believe it or not they are not perfect I have watched them doing this for years.
The timekeeper in the McPhilbin contest was wrong in ringing early, last saturday Im not so sure as I was sitting very close to him and nobody made a fuss or mentioned it.
