Just spoke to Albert Mensah's promoter who informed me this is a mandatory IBF International title defense for Mensah and a IBF Eliminator bout for the #2 spot.

Today, the WBC says on their website that he won their Mediterranean title... If it's not true, are they nuts then, sandis?!?...

Here's the text from today's news:

Denis Shafikov defeated Albert Mensah to conquer the WBC Mediterranean Superlightweight title in Cozumel, Quintana Roo.
The European fighter landed punches that left the African fighter with a swollen face and a deep cut in his left eyebrow.
At the end of the fight Shafikov fought his best trying to win the fight by KO but the time was not enough and the cards ended 119-107, 118-108 and 118-108.
This way Denis Shafikov improved his record to 31-0-1, 17 KO´s.

I know 100 % it was for IBF #2 spot and also for Mensah's mandatory defense, I was part of TEAM Mensah in the past. I also heard the WBC I believed threw in a belt, this I am not 100 % on.

You know whats weird was that after the fight the WBC also awarded Shafikov a title, it is clearly visible on the video.

I was part of his team prior to this last fight, his promoter Cynthia Tolaymat told me it was for IBF #2 spot. Yet clearly on the fight that was televised you see the WBC award him some title.

No, but one of our editors put it in. Don't know who, but you said yourself it was clearly to be seen on the video of the fight that Shafikov was awarded a belt, we wait for the next ratings to see... But as I think I know who put the title in, I think it is correct, vacant WBC Baltic light welterweight title.
