as opposed to Broners murderers row of opposition and two gift victories in fights he should have lostforcefraser wrote:Broner is a class above .
Burns is a great boxer and a terrific bloke from what I`ve seen, but let`s face it he hasn`t been matched that hard yet. The Martinez fight was a quality win, but since then we have seen an ageing Katsidis (who has come short at the top level), Nicky Cook with a bad back, A Norwegian dwarf, two teak tough Africans and Kevin Mitchell.
He has done what he had to do in all these fights, but none of them are top world level fighters bar perhaps Martinez. We have seen before when someone like John Murray stepped up to fight Rios, he was detsroyed, a totally different class. Jennings against Cotto another example, Lockett against Pavlik, Magee against Kessler
Burns is better than Murray, Jennings, Magee and Lockett, but it is all about levels and Broner just has something about him. He`ll stop Burns comfortably.
I`ll be cheering burns on, but I don`t give him much of a chance. There is no way he will start as favourite.
John Murray had just taken a hiding from Kevin Mitchell, hardly a case of him stepping up, more a case of him grabbing one las tpayday before his inevitable soon retirement. When were Jennings or Lockett ever thought of as a top guy in their weight division like Burns is?
God you Brits are so fornicating cynical, you really are so defeatist, I wish I could see this killer Adrien Broner that you all see
Re: Schaefer offering burns 400k sterling to fight broner
I don't think Boner is all that either.
You could argue he lost to ponce de Leon.

Re: Schaefer offering burns 400k sterling to fight broner
Burns isn't a real world champion in my eyes until he fights a mandatory fighter. It has been more than 2 years since he won a World title and has managed to avoid this through good matchmaking, weight problems and the WBO letting bunny do what he likes.
This has got to stop, but it won't. They'll fight another 4 nobodies for the money they could make in that one fight against Broner.
I think they're using Broners name to get recognition and interest in the US, but with no real intention of fighting him.

I also think Broner is overrated by those hoping for another Mayweather. His issues with weight raise questions about his discipline / attitude and I think someone that can box well at range and maintain a high punch output will give him real trouble. This is a winnable fight fo Burns IMO.

I do think that Ricky Burns will stay down at Lightweight for the time being because the division when you look at it is pretty much for grabs since Juan Manuel Marquez and Brandon Rios moved up as he could have tasty match ups against the winner of Bogere and Abril or against Miguel Vazquez or evena domestic showdown with Gavin Rees who is sniffing around for a world title shot since vacating his British and European titles at 9 stone 9lbs as well as Broner. So he is not short of options.billy nelson wrote:no ricky will stay at LW until he clears the division then move up to LWW when he will put on more muscle.daviddee wrote:Yes I meant since he stopped boiling down.. In my opinion Ricky would be best at light welter correct me if I'm wrong Billy but Ricky walks about a fair bit heavier than 10stone so would need to come down to that... The less he has to come down the stronger I reckon he will be.. He's big enough to go right up to Welterweight and do well

i really think burns is being under rated, he hasnt looked anything other the real deal since beating katsidis. On what ive seen of broner he looks quality but i cant see him outclassing burns. Winning maybe but outclassing him i just dont see it.

There is a difference between dfeatism and realism. We'll see on fight night if the fight ever happens. Broner is a class act, believe me.GreenLightning wrote:as opposed to Broners murderers row of opposition and two gift victories in fights he should have lostforcefraser wrote:Broner is a class above .

He's very raw and swings like a wild man, very much still a work in progress. Burns wouldnt just stand square and trade with him. It would be a good fight but I wouldn't put it past Burns to pick Broner off and give him a real boxing lesson on his way to a close points victory.G0mez wrote:I don't think Boner is all that either.

His promoter might be kind and pay these, or perhaps his manager?
Shocking isn't it ?
Trainer gets 10% up to £10,000 then it's negotiable above this amount, this is usually when boxers and trainers usually start falling out. ie Billy Graham and Ricky Hatton.
