Khan vs Garcia 2, What Happens?

Post by TheKingOfBoxing »

Everyone watched this past Saturday night Amir Khan 27(19)-3(2) systematically break down and 'beat up' previously unbeaten Carlos Molina 17(7)-1(1)-1. Now of course Amir Khan was always going to win this one, GBP had hand picked Molina as he doesnt have the power to hurt Khan in any way, as we saw during the fight.

However, even though Khan has up and moved to Virgil Hunter, there were still a few worrying signs that if Khan goes up against a puncher like Garcia 25(16)-0 or Matthysse 32(30)-2 he will be blown away again. Molina did land some clean shots on Khan during the fight, and when Khan throws his combinations off he is open to be counted.

If, Khan vs Garcia 2 does happen, will Khan be a different fighter going into this one or would it be a case of dejavu?

Personally, I think Garcia would have the confidence and patience to KO Khan again, but what do you think?
Should Khan beat a contender in Matthysse first to prove 1- he deserves the re-match and 2- he can be in there with a big puncher, not get hurt and box clever?

Last thing, will GBP build Khan up against feather fisted opponents or blown up Lightweights to get Khan his shot??

Garcia KO again although Khan might make it to the seventh this time.

Also, no way GBP allow Khan to get in the ring with Matthyse, let alone beat him.

I think it's a tough one to call. The first couple of rounds Khan made it look easy until he got caught. I think Khan has the better physical attributes, but Garcia just seems to be able to time Khan. If Khan had any sort of chin i'd take him to win on points, but every scenario I come back to sees Garcia timing Khan perfectly and stopping him again.

Garcia by stoppage again, like another poster has said, Garcia timing is spot on, he doesn't even look when he trows his now trade mark left hook. I'm not so sure if I see Khan lasting much longer than he did the first time.

I bet Khan decimates him. And my Khan-sceptic credentials are impeccable. He's better than Garcia and thats about the size of it.

Same again, every time. People are really under-rating Garcia if they think he can go a whole fight and NOT land a power punch on Khan. When he does, it will be game over, again.

True. He'll still get KOd though, which is rather annoying when you think about it.

Garcia would get him again.

Khan isn't disciplined enough, nor skilled enough, to outbox Garcia - on the outside, all night... to a decision over 12.

So far 0 boxing fans out of 68 believe Garcia isn't good enough to beat khan on points !
Interesting..... Khan gets him out of there mid to late rounds in a one sided beating.

I really think Garcia is overrated and riding the Amir Khan KO wave. It's all about confidence with these two fighters right now. Garcia got schooled by Morales in the first fight in parts and after the Khan KO, he is on top of the world. I think we'd all agree that Garcia is not a technically great fighter and looks raggy at times.

Right now, Garcia is dangerous and I'd expect him to dispose of Judah in similar fashion to that of both Khan and Morales II but in saying that, Garcia could find he can't get Zab out of there so easy, forcing him to doubt himself. Going to be an interesting fight.

If I was managing Khan, I'd avoid Garcia right now. Don't put Amir back into that place right now until he's built his confidence back up again. Would the Khan that beat Maidana beat Garcia? If he'd just held back after the first knockdown to Garcia, he may of held on to win the first fight. I think Khan's chin isn't that bad, he just built himself up in his own head to be unbeatable and thought he could engage with anyone, similar to how Garcia will be feeling now. I really don't think Danny Garcia is anything special and will get found out eventually.

Also, did anyone notice how much bling Garcia had on during the Khan-Molina fight? Serious shit. :D

Probably the same thing, Khan can't keep his concentration for a full fight and when you've got a shit chin the consequences as we've seen can be brutal.

I can see it now, starts off well, showing fast hands then the second Garcia lands a bomb which he will Khan will fall apart like a cheap watch, Bruno style.

Now that Amir Khan is with Virgil Hunter who is niche is defence I reckon he will beat Danny Garcia, because he has got the quicker hands, the height and reach advantage over Garcia, plus with Hunter he will have a great game plan to deal with Garcia while Hunter takes care of Pops Garcia's trash talking so that Khan is fully foccused on taking back his titles and attempting to clear out the Light-Welter division.

Because Khan can box beautifully and when he puts his mind to it I remember him dominating Garry StClair years back for the Commonwealth Lightweight title off his jab. You would think after 8 years as a professional and 30 professional fights winning two world titles. Okay he had a six inch height and reach advantage over StClair but he can do it.

Khan has all the tools to school this guy but he is far, far too reckless and Garcia is a very good counter puncher. Khan has the speed and not much beats that, except one thing, timing. Garcia has that and so maybe not an early stoppage but I can definitely see Khan doing well at first, boxing, keeping it tight etc. He is too brave and ballsy for his own good and it will not do him any good here.

In my opinion, Garcia TKO 10 (sadly).

I'd use the Kotelnik win as evidence that Khan can box beautifully (easily the best performance.of Khan's career)...though he's regressed since then thanks to falling in love with himself.

Why did Garcia get lucky? Khan has been hurt similiary many times, and on several occasions prior to the first knockdown he was nearly caught with a left hook. Garcia also threw the fight changing punch immediately as Khan attacked, suggesting that he made a conscious effort to time Khan and didn't impetously lash out in desperation, although having success through the latter method wouldn't necessarily indicate luck or suggest that his chances of winning a rematch are low; he may consistently succeed by attacking Khan in that way.

I don't, therefore, consider it unlikely that Garcia would land punches in a rematch that are similar to those he landed in the initial bout; this doesn't mean that Garcia would win a rematch, but I don't see why we should assign a very low probability to him doing so, which you would presumably do given your assessment of their first bout.

Even Carlos Molina landed a left hook similar to that which Garcia dropped Khan with:
