The best bantam of the 60s meet the best bantam of the 70s. Two great fighters. Who wins?

As great as Zarate was, I was always astounded by his knockout success because if you watched his fights carefully you would see that he didn't throw punches at a high volume yet he almost always knocked out his opponents in the end.

I don't think Jofre could be knocked out if he wasn't flat out overwhelmed by volume. Zarate's patience and calm pace might have cost him a victory in this fight. I suppose it is testament to his greatness that he nearly destroyed every fighter he fought given his measured and patient style. This would be one fight that could go either way, I suppose, but I'd give the edge to Jofre.

Jofre, Ko12 or 13. Zarate could be hurt, and IMO, he eventually would have been by Joffre

As one who watched both fight live I have to go with Jofre by KO late in a 15 round fight. Imo Jofre was the better fighter of the two. Of all the 118 pounders that I have watched live going back to Manuel Ortiz, I pick only Ortiz to be a better fight than Jofre.

Hello Kiki:

What was like in those days when the great Manuel Ortiz used to fight back in the late 40s? What fight of Manuel did you like the most?
And, what was like in the days of Art Aragon, Joe Becerra and Raton Macias in Los Angeles?
