Start a new thread. This one's about celebrating the achievements of one of the hardest working guys in grass roots boxing.

No mate. Just KG with a bee in his bonnet about people who get awards. Gary Rhodes previously got an OBE.

I have a couple of friends who are doctors, during their holidays they go to places like Djibouti and Eritrea, literally saving (or prolonging) lives on a daily basis.
They will never in a million years get an MBE.
Im sure Glyn has had an immense effect on his community and done wonders for 100's of young people, but i think there are other people who do incredible things who deserve it more and would benefit their causes by having it more than him.
That is a criticism of the system, not Glyn or Gary Rhodes.

Then go and talk about the system elsewhere - after all this is supposed to be a boxing forum.
I'm sure your friends are deserving - maybe you should put them forward for next year.
As for this thread - fuckin we done Glyn Rhodes MBE.

I had no idea that Gary Rhodes got an OBE. The thought of him having MBE/OBE whatever seemed so ludicrous that it amused me to chuck his name in.
Then it turns out that he actually effing well has one....

One thing not mentioned, is the work He does to raise Funds for Charity, and those less fortunate.

Fair play to Glyn, he's a good bloke.
I'm not a fan of honours to be honest, if I was in the position to receive one I'd have to turn it down, I've got an image as a biker and a rocker to uphold.

I'd rather a fit, juiced up athelete be one of my Knights than an aging queen (hello Elton John, great singer/performer, and nothing wrong with his lifestyle choices.)Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:The honours system is such a joke. Cyclists (the most dirty drugs sport in the world) as knights of the realm...
I wonder if they will revoke the honours bestowed on our beloved cyclists and athletes when they fail drugs tests in a few years?
They didn't revoke Linford Christies
