Anybody going to Witter-Lynes at York Hall, Bethnal Green?
Anybody going to Witter-Lynes at York Hall, Bethnal Green?
This is on Friday the 21st of October.
Is Lynes any good and can he be competitive at all against Witter? The undercard looks poor - I never saw as many TBAs in my life!
This is promoted by Matchroom (Barry Hearn) and tickets are £30 general admission or £50 for reserved ringside seating.
Is anybody here planning on going? I am thinking of it myself but could this fight be in any way competitive and are any of these guys on the undercard worth watching?
Junior Witter vs. Colin Lynes 12 Light-Welterweight details

Commonwealth (British Empire) Title
European Title
Richard Williams vs. TBA
Ted Bami vs. TBA
Michael Lomax vs. TBA
Billy Corcoran vs. TBA

George Hillyard is worth watching, just don't expect the fight to make it out of the first round. Ted Bami has been in some decent scraps, and I always like watching Richard Williams.
The problem, of course, is that none of these fights, top of the bill included, are likely to be at all competitive. Great venue though.

To be honest mate, I'd never heard of him until I saw him on the Anderson-Okine bill last week. He looked well worth watching as he stopped the limited James Gorman. Some very nice moves, very sneaky lead right.topper123 wrote:I've seen his name on here a few times, what did Hillyard do as an amatuer? and any details on him ?states wrote:George Hillyard is worth watching, just don't expect the fight to make it out of the first round.

Nah, its got to be the Showground, Camarthen.Kevin wrote:I'll be there to cover it for BBN.
York Hall is the home of British Boxing in my opinion, a great atmosphere can be created in there. Just ask James, J or Ian about the atmosphere when Chas Symonds took on Brett James there.
I'll be at York Hall on Friday for the Maloneys show too

What sort of a Mickey Mouse set up is that? Absolutely ridiculous. She told me I had to send either cash or a cheque with guarantee card - no credit cards. Only after I told her I couldn't do that and was about to hang up did she say "oh you can try this number" so I tried it and surely enough I was able to book the tickets via. credit card with no booking fee!

fornicating A mate. Outside of the atmosphere at the MEN when Hatton fights, I've never seen anything like that night, it was like a bear pit.Kevin wrote:I'll be there to cover it for BBN.

Although the undercard doesn't look too special, I think I'll cover the Witter fight.
Sadly I'm still waiting to get bloody home choice connected at the moment, been in my new place 2 months, and still haven't got broadband, it's doing my sodding head in.
I mentioned this before but while at the Hatton-Tszyu fight I was disappointed in the behaviour of the fans around me - I found it to be a real soccer hooligan type crowd consisting mainly of people who clearly knew nothing about boxing - most of the chants I heard were English football songs. I don't mind a rowdy bunch but am hoping it will be more true boxing fans at the York Hall.
