Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
On Feb 15, poor poor fight. Dickinson easily beat Dolan over 10 rounds in July 2011 and Dolan has looked well past his best for a while now so what's the point of this?
Would have liked to see China Clarke or Neil Dawson get this fight.

Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
so beating tayar mehmed and simon cover both over 4 rounds gets dolan a british title ? whats that all about why have the board let this fight happen dolan does not deserve this fight yet ?
Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
Yep it's probably economics, Dolan probably comes dirt cheap and will jump at the chance of another title shot. Totally undeserved though, sad really, I know pickings are fairly slim at Cruiserweight but they could have done a lot better than this.

Is China Clarke any good? not seen anything of him.
Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
Spoke to one of dickinson former opponents the other day. Chris Burton said hes making a comeback in april at heavyweight thankfully. Basically said what everyone though, the cut sapped his strengh and his legs buckled when he was hit by a dickinson jab.
Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
For the northeast great fight and dolan has done his bit beaten close

Local(ish) derby though and it is only a a mandatory, seen worse.
Aint saw anything of Dolan since the Norton fights but he was unlucky especially the 2nd one thought he nicked it.

Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
Alot of people thought Dolan actually beat Dickinson last time from what I've heard of ppl but Dickinson has a big promoter behind him Dolan doesn't , IMHO Dolan missed the boat after he won commonwealth gold, could of gone further if He'd turned over then
Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
This is a Massive fight for the North East a real local Derby ,The last fight was very close and was great fight to watch,Dolan really up for this fight ....North east Bragging writes at stake.

He comfortably beat Mitchell Balker, who ran Askin close before a poor stoppage and beat Richard Turba, who beat Dickinson. Balker also won the NY Golden Gloves.Old bones Ian wrote:Is China Clarke any good? not seen anything of him.
He also stopped Paul David who is a decent fighter although too small for CW.

Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
the divison is in its usual god-awful state
but i dont really see why this is such a bad rematch
Dickinson is the best out there...and Dolan is a top contender...what more can you do
Dawson is hardly the most active fighter...nobody else has any more worthy credentials
whats needed is for Dickinson to grab the title and defend it
the division (as always) just needs stability at the top
and Dickinson is a decent fighter.

Agree with the last few posts. Nothing wrong with this as a voluntary (which I think it is?).

I was reporting at ringside for that fight and it was close. A lot of the rounds were close and there was no way in the world Dickinson won 'easily'. Both fighters thought it was close.turbostar wrote:On Feb 15, poor poor fight. Yeh I didn't realise this was a North East derby so I guess with that angle it looks like a more decent scrap and if it pulls a crowd then that's the aim of the game! Also yeh i do agree about Dolan, i remember thinking he'd beat Norton in one of those fights, absolute stinkfests though, Norton was such a bad champion.

The cruiserweight division really sucks ar*se, for years this was one of our go to divisions (think Nelson, Thompson, Enzo & Haye) now its pitiful, honestly no wonder Mark Prince is making a comeback, I’m surprised Sammy Reeson isn’t dusting off the gloves.
As for the Dolan vs Dickinson, this is a poor fight, Dolans only chance is if Dickinson suffers another injury.

Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
It's not a poor fight, its a decent scrap between the champion and a top 5/6 contender.
Dickinson is a level above Dolan and will win more comfortably this time.
I think only Stephen Simmons has a chance at domestic level of beating JLD

Simmons & Danny price are prob the only two with a chance of beating Dickinson at domestic level, not including olafabi as hes a world class operator,Dolan will give it a go though

Re: Jon-Lewis Dickinson v David Dolan - British CW title
Why do you think they are the only Cruiserweight's domestically that have a chance of beating JLD ? Both names are very limited & would run out of ideas IMO like alot of other fighters previously raved about who have come unstuck when they are put on the back foot or met head on, or don't get there own way I.e Tony Conquest, Askins, etc. it's only my opinion but style wise & who's got the best attributes to beat JLD I think Dawson, Keane or Clarke have the most chance in the division.the truth wrote:Simmons & Danny price are prob the only two with a chance of beating Dickinson at domestic level, not including olafabi as hes a world class operator,Dolan will give it a go though
