Dont think we'll see him in the ring again, wasnt so long ago i asked him to spar Ricky and wouldnt.
Imo Alex would have won a world title properly if hed have settled with one coach,he certanly had the skills but imo not the confidence

A local trainer round my way was honoured a couple of years ago for services to sport. He never had a pro fight let alone fought for titles etc etc.
It's not always about what you achieve with these honours. This bloke I'm talking about was nominated for his commitment to his local boxing club and the amount of time he dedicated etc to training and looking after the ragamuffins that spent their spare time there etc.
Having said that, I have no idea if Alex is involved with the sport outside if fighting himself. Does he help out with the local clubs etc?

Billy, Ricky has come a long long way since he lost to Arthur back in 2006. How do you feel the Ricky of today would have faired with the Arthur he fought back then?billy nelson wrote:Dont think we'll see him in the ring again, wasnt so long ago i asked him to spar Ricky and wouldnt.

I always thought Alex was the most talented of all the Scottish boxers around at the time. In fairness he did school Ricky in there fight although it was a very good fight... I was a massive fan but always felt that he lacked something... I could never put my finger on it.. He had all the skills just maybe lacked that extra bit of heart that you need to be at the top of your game.. Ricky and Scott have that in spades.. I hope to see him again in the ring but only if he is in peak condition physically and mentally in honesty I don't think we will see him again..

Ricky would have won easily,to fast and acurate and far too busy,Alex was a excellent fighter but never wanted to fight the full 3mins in a roundALI wrote:Billy, Ricky has come a long long way since he lost to Arthur back in 2006. To be fair there was only Alex and Scott at the top there time and Scott was levels above,Alex rarely even sparred Scott in the gym for one reason or another,if he showed the same commitment as Ricky,Alex could have been a little special and made himself some decent money from boxingdaviddee wrote:I always thought Alex was the most talented of all the Scottish boxers around at the time. I thought he'd bought lots of property that he lets out? If he's doing well in life why would he do something that he doesn't really enjoy anymore?

No doubt he was an excellent talent. Always seemed to talk utter bullshit about big plans that he'd never follow through on though. Very strange the way his career has completely and suddenly been wiped after being given the star treatment on sky for so long.
