Williams goes in search of the Bedford Bear

Post by dondada »

I'm too busy to sort it at the minute but I'm sure Kev will put it up at BBN soon.

You'll laugh your head off when you see the latest Sports Network presser!

How can Danny afford to charter a bus when he's just been fined for pulling out of a fight with the Bedford Bear?

Not a word has been heard from British Heavyweight Champion Matt Skelton since he went back on his word and declined to fight Danny Williams.

Now Williams has taken it upon himself to go in search of Skelton tomorrow (THURSDAY 6 OCTOBER) in his own Bedford surroundings and flush him out of hiding to commit him to their December 3 date at the London's ExCeL Arena!

All members of the press are invited to join Williams on the safari bus on the expedition to Bedford.

The safari bus will then go through Bedford's City centre in search of the Bedford Bear!

Williams will be available for one-on-one interviews and photo opportunities.
What fornicating planet are they on? And how does Skelton get accused of going back on his word when it was Williams who got the willies the first time around.

Who does the PR for Sports Network it is truly shocking.

He should wear the whole beige hunting helmet and suit shabang, and have a big antique musket as well. I know you don't get many bears in Africa, but it would be funny as hell. He could always dress up as a lumberjack if he wants to be accurate

From The Times.
THE soap opera that has become the career of Danny Williams, the London heavyweight, will take another turn to the bizarre today when he hires a “safari bus” to drive around the Home Counties trying to track down Matt Skelton, the British champion.
Williams, who beat Mike Tyson and then lost to Vitali Klitschko for the WBC title in 2004, should have faced Skelton in July, but he pulled out on the eve of the bout. Williams claimed that he had flu, while others, including allegedly, his manager, believed that he did not have the stomach for the sport any more.

But after agreeing to face Williams at ExCeL, in London’s Docklands, on December 3, Skelton then refused to sign. “It looks like the only way Skelton is going to be prepared to fight me is if I go up to Bedford myself and flush out the big ugly bear,” Williams said. “Skelton is doing everything he can to avoid fighting me.

“When I was forced to pull out in July, it was the best thing that had ever happened to Skelton and he knew it. Now he is making more obstacles by demanding I take another cut in my purse so he can have more money.”

The bus will leave from Warren’s offices in Hertford and will drive through the streets of Bedford, Skelton’s home town.
So did anything happen?

BEAR HUNT DOESN'T YIELD
Iain Axon 06 Oct 2005
Danny Williams' bear hunt didn't led to the "outing" of Matt Skelton today - but it did drum up plenty of publicity for the former British and Commonwealth champion.

Williams hired a safari bus in a bid to flush out the Bedford Bear, as he has dubbed the current holder of the Lonsdale belt, in his home town.

Williams and Skelton had been set to meet in a blockbuster showdown on December 3 at the ExCel Centre in London's Docklands.

But while Williams - who pulled out of a July showdown at the last minute - is keen on the fight, Skelton has so far turned it down.

And he is keeping such a low profile that not a word has been heard of him since last week.

Today Williams drove past Skelton's Bedford abode accompanied by photographers and journalists in an attempt to recreate the then Cassius Clay's baiting of Sonny Liston in the 1960s.

Liston famously answered the knock at his door when Ali came calling, but today Skelton was nowhere to be seen.

There was also no sign of him on the streets of Bedford, even if Williams' presence did draw some interest from the locals.

"Matt said I was a coward when I pulled out of a fight against him through illness," said Williams.

"But now it looks as if it is him who doesn't want the fight.

"There's one way to settle this dispute and that's in the ring at the ExCel Centre on December 3.

"I'll show him I'm not scared of him by showing him up for what he is - a big bully. My boxing skills are much, much better and everyone will see that when we finally get it on."

I believe Danny had the flu prior to the fight, hes been in bigger situations and not bottled it and its obviously a fght that he fancies his chances in.

Its not going to be the prettiest of fight, but its one that I really want to see and its Matt Skelton who is stopping it as he wants more money than the first time round

What a fornicating idiot Williams is, he really think he's some big player with stunts like this. Lets see if it gets any press anywhere apart from allegedly.tv my bet is not. Perhaps he'd be better spending time in the gym working off all that fat the big lardarse.

I agree with you , the stunt is crap, but I have seen it in most papers, though not a photo.

I don't think it will be Williams' idea, it will be some PR guy's brainwave.

Williams is a decent guy no doubt, I don't think his character is represented in this foolishness.

Anyway how can we dislike anyone that sparked Herbie Hide in sparring?
