Not totally. Froch rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way on the way up. Loads of my friends who are casual fans could not stand him and would not have dreamed of paying £17.50 to watch him on Primetime.

Much as I dislike FW, if Froch had been promoted by him he'd have been a much bigger name albeit would likely not have fought the same level of opposition.

Kessler, quite correctly, would want silly money for coming here. He has already beaten Carl and is a bigger draw in Denmark than Carl is here. When he came over for Calzaghe, he had a lot to gain and the fight was live on US television. It looks impossible without PPV which would contradict everything Adam Smith has said over the last 18 months. As said, its been proved Froch is no PPV fighter, either. Remember, Kostya wanted £3.5m to come over for Ricky...

For whatever reason--& it's not promotional, & it's not match-making, & it may just be down to the vagaries of fashion & the fickle nature of fame--Carl just don't fit for the biggest money & the sports papers.

He's a trade fighter. The best we've got currently imo, but still a trade fighter.

Kessler's a farking star in Denmark, to bring him over they're going to have to pay him retirement cash & that means PPV... Which wouldn't sell that well, anyway, Carl being Carl.

Does anyone think Eddie'd be brave & take the risk with Carl, i.e. give Kessler three blondes, a new Ferrari, 3 million quid & twelve hours in the tattoo parlour of his choice, just on the off-chance that Carl could beat him at home & that that would make Frochy the megastar his bollocks have always deserved?

And if he did beat Kessler then everyone would say he must beat Ward! That would require even more cash or a trip to America and another good hiding!

It's because he's not a dick and, thus far, he hasn't been prepared to act like a dick for an extra zero on his purses, and a regular place on the sofa on Good Morning Britain with Anne and Nick or whatever rehash of that now exists.

Look at Ricky and his man of the people fat-man suit bollocks and Haye full stop. I'm not knocking them because it's worked and they're both minted but some people just aren't prepared to act the goat or trot around like a show pony.

Yup, there is no way FW would have had him in the Super 6, he would have built his career around fighting top 10 guys in the UK and doing a lot of media work etc.
He could have been bigger than Calzaghe, who knows?

Froch has not ever been "promoted" not in any real sense.

froch is not a ppv fighter and matchroom cant afford kessler
thats a pity of another super fight not going to happen

Stevensen has the puching power to end the fight in one punch, but I still have doubts about his chin. Also, technically, he has improved a lot with Emmuel Stewart, but he still need to make progress.

Froch is better technially, but he will have to be careful.

It's sad that some seem to believe that to 'be ppv' you have to have a certain personality etc.

Froch is regularly involved in very entertaining fights, against the cream in his division, and has held a version of the world title 3 times. Sorry, but over here, I think that should be the perfect description of a ppv fighter.

Ironically, Froch probably has much more about him as a person than the likes of Khan who some would consider a 'ppv fighter'

Still, his loss is our gain! "Free" Froch fights? Sounds effing great to me!

I just watched Stevenson's celebrations after knocking his opponent out. For this reason alone I hope he gets to box Froch. It was terrible sportsmanship and he needs to be taught a lesson, and Froch will tear him a new one!!

Excellent fight if it comes off, I've been wanting to see this for awhile.

For most world champs this would be a massively risky fight, Stevenson is a TNT puncher and the type of opponent usually avoided at all costs. But Carl has a chin of iron, so they won't be too worried.

Two big punchers, the better chin is almost always going to come out on top - but it'll be bombs away and spectacular viewing while it lasts.

And no matter how good his chin is, Carl definitely doen't want to get caught clean by the bad news Canadian.

In what way? i have never seen anything in the way of "personality" from Froch, he doesnt say anything particularly interesting or controversial, he just mumbles away in that Midlands accent of his.
Khan isnt a dynamic personality either, but he at least tries.

In terms of excitement, ill take Khans recent up and down bouts over Frochs recent 12 round snoozefests.

No disrespect to Kessler but that title is a paper belt. Ward is the real WBA champ wish the would scrap that 'super' and 'World' champ crap. Still Froch v Kessler is a fight that must happen this year !!!!

Why does Froch Kessler have to be in the UK if it makes more money elsewhere? Froch may believe he didn't get a fair shake last time, but I don't know anyone who thinks he beat Kessler last time out.

Froch is at a point where titles mean little. So if the IBF want to be hardline then he can just say ok I'll box Kessler for his WBA title only. Stevenson have your fight for the vacant title.
