Hello everyone,
On Chris Eubank Jr's record it states that he is a Middleweight. However, the limit for Middleweight is 160 Ib, and Chris Eubank Jr has never fought below that weight. Should it say that he is a Super-Middleweight?

Weight Query
Re: Weight Query
No, he's a middleweight. He's only coming in a few lbs over and will be contesting titles at middleweight in the not too distant future. If we went by on the night weghts in non-title contests we'd have to reclassify several hundred boxers in the UK alone.

Re: Weight Query
Ok, thanks for your reply. Is it a common thing for boxers to fight above their weight category in non-title fights?
Re: Weight Query
Shouldn't the bouts be set to Super Middle though?
Re: Weight Query
No, because boxers would then be ranked in the wrong divisions. It's generally the case that for a non-title contest the match is likely to be made a few lbs higher than the division limit. A fighter isn't expected to boil down to championship weight for a six rounder. If we listed Eubank Jr as a super-middle people would be proposing he box against Kenny Anderson but then when you look at Kenny's last few non-title fights you'll see he was up near the light-heavyweight limit
