Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
great, if it's happening.
must have been frustrating that burns' best domestic (rees) and US (broner) potential foes went ahead and signed to fight each other.
vazquez is a very tricky and very credible world title holder, with good wins over lenny zappa, kim and prescott. vazquez is the fighter who never gets named in the big fight discussions at lightweight.
burns must be very eager to continue proving himself at 135.

Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
Never seen Vasquez, but many consider him to be the best lightweight not named Adrien Broner. And he's rated #2 by both Boxrec and The Ring (behind Broner).
So it looks like a tough fight for Burns if it comes off. This is what we want.

Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
I've just seen that a FW show featuring Burns (and Cleverly / Chisora) is at Wembley Arena on 16th March, but with no opponents named. I'm guessing that Burns' opponent that night will be some Glaswegian bus driver, and Vasquez will be at a later date..?
EDIT: I stand corrected - it will be Vasquez on 16/03. I might even buy a ticket for this.

Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
Would anyone agree that Vasquez on paper is a more proven world titlist than Broner?
(Although Im of the same general opinion that Broner rightfully deserves to be number 1)
Hopefully if this Vasquez fight happens in Glasgow.
ps...Burns and Khan although unlikely would be a good fight.

hey Glasgweagan Bus drivers need to be tough dealing with some off the scum that get on
that says if he was a Glasweagan Bus Driver he would probably be polish

Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
Ifthis one is happening, great. But I do hope Ricky's getting at least the same money as they were offering for a fight with Broner because whilst I don't believe Vasquez is as good as The Problem, I do think he'll turn Burns over. Vasquez does everything well. He's no world beater and I doubt he'll ever become a superstar of the sport but, in my view, he has more than enough about him to do a big number on Ricky (who I also like and want to win).
Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
This looks like being one of the best domestic cards in years.
Burns v Vasquez (Lightweight Unification)
Cleverly v Krasniqi (Light Heavy Mandatory defence)
Groves v N'Diaye (Tough EBU Challenge)
Liam Walsh v Logan McGuinness
Tony Conquest v Neil Dawson
Dereck Chisora

You might be right but how many of Ricky's previous fight did you think he would lose?JLP wrote:Ifthis one is happening, great. Ricky Burns Vs. Miguel Vazquez
The allegedly website is showing that Burns Vs. Vazquez for the IBF and WBO Lightweight titles has been added to the Nathan Cleverly card on the 16th March.

Does look a good card if it stays together. How comes its in London though? Seems a little bit strange on the face of it. Also any reason BJS is not fighting on this card, or is he likely to be added soon?

I'd take Burns to win this on points in a close but clear winJLP wrote:Ifthis one is happening, great. Very good fight and looks like a good card if it can stays together.
As JLP implied, Vazquez is an all round solid boxer and doesn't make many mistakes. Tough as nails too. However, we can't underestimate how good a boxer Ricky is nowadays which he has demonstrated in his last three fights. It's going to a close decision either way.

Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
I think you're being harsh, I know Chad from elsewhere and a shill for FW he isn't. He's just keen/obsessional about boxing on UK TV, is all.
Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
Last time Burns "Ducked" Broner he pulled off a win vs Katsidis whilst many thought he would be outclassed. After that performance Katsidis was apparently a shot fighter and Burns should have beaten him anyway.
Now after "Ducking" Broner again his team pull out Vasquez, already people believe he is in too deep again, what will we be reading if Burns wins again?
Also, previously he was gonna be knocked out by Martinez who then became one dimensional after Burns beat him.
Im looking forward to it, if Burns becomes a unified champion then surely he can negotiate a bigger payday for facing Broner and that fight will finally happen.

Good to know. A disproportionate amount of threads/posts on this particular channel set my radar off some time agoorbtastic wrote:I think you're being harsh, I know Chad from elsewhere and a shill for FW he isn't. He's just keen/obsessional about boxing on UK TV, is all.
Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
I can't speak for anybody else but if Burns beats Vasquez I will be convinced he's the second best boxer in the division. Vasquez is a lot better than the Katsidis ever was.Emmseegee wrote:Last time Burns "Ducked" Broner he pulled off a win vs Katsidis whilst many thought he would be outclassed. Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
It will give Ricky a lot more bargaining power for the Broner fight if he wins, too.
