After that performance Katsidis was apparently a shot fighter and Burns should have beaten him anyway.
Now after "Ducking" Broner again his team pull out Vasquez, already people believe he is in too deep again, what will we be reading if Burns wins again?
Also, previously he was gonna be knocked out by Martinez who then became one dimensional after Burns beat him.
Im looking forward to it, if Burns becomes a unified champion then surely he can negotiate a bigger payday for facing Broner and that fight will finally happen.
Burns Vs Vasquez ?

Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
Would like to know why you think that. Broner looks the business but yet to be tested and i think that will still be case after Rees (hope Rees pulls off the upset!) IMO the winner of Burns vs Vasquez should be regarded as no 1 - certainly based on resume.
Katsidis - Moses - Mitchell - Vasquez > DeMarco - Rees
Thats my opinion of course I'm sure others disagree.

Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
Think burns will ud him. Always thought burns was the number 2 in the division. However imo there is a huge gap between no 1 and no 2 although I have my doubts that we are ever going to find out. Anyone think if burns wins warren and his team are going to be calling themselves no 1 in the division (above broner and they don't need to fight him) and brithish pound for pound no1?

Hopefully if this Vasquez fight happens in Glasgow.
ps...Burns and Khan although unlikely would be a good fight.
Vazquez is more proven and is a better fighter, why does Broner deserve to be number one? because he beat the number 3 in Demarco? Demarco was the weakest belt holder of the 3

Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
Just based on my own opinion. I still think Broner has areas to work on but I think he's decent. British fighters usually fail to cut the mustard at the very highest level, even when they're touted as "world champions". Whilst I do like Burns as a fighter and for the way he carries himself, I don't see enough in him to think he'll ever be the best fighter in a division. I genuinely hope I'm proven wrong.sgtcecil wrote:Would like to know why you think that. So it looks like a tough fight for Burns if it comes off. This is what we want.
He was number one before Broner beat the number two in Demarco, so naturally the moved Broner ahead of Vazquez in the number one spot, still have Demarco ahead of Burns, and have Broner as the p4p number 6

I do take your point but do you not think it's possible to gauge levels without simply cross referencing opponents?GreenLightning wrote:greenyox3 wrote:Never seen Vasquez, but many consider him to be the best lightweight not named Adrien Broner. Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
I agree with you on this one. At lightweight, Broner's ledger is still a bit thin and a win over Rees wouldn't be enough to keep him ahead of the winner of Burns - Vazquez (in my opinion); both who have decent resumés at 135 to date. Obviously the governing bodies and Boxrec will probably say different but I tend not to pay much attention to them.sgtcecil wrote:Would like to know why you think that. Based on facts and results I think Vasquez is a tougher opponent than Broner which is why i said on paper he is more proven.GreenLightning wrote:Emmseegee wrote:Would anyone agree that Vasquez on paper is a more proven world titlist than Broner?

Based on opinion, i still regard Broner as having more ability. Time will tell.
Burns' team have taken a very smart route in my opinion, another world title holder so no-one can question his opponent and also better bargaining rights for a scrap with Broner if everything goes to plan.
Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
Burns winning this fight will stop the broner fight from happening. They will say the fight must be in the uk as ricky holds more belts and I highly doubt golden boy will let broner travel to these shores.

rankings should be based on achievements not "well I think Broner might have more ability so he's number one"JLP wrote:I do take your point but do you not think it's possible to gauge levels without simply cross referencing opponents?GreenLightning wrote:greenyox3 wrote:Never seen Vasquez, but many consider him to be the best lightweight not named Adrien Broner. anyway that post was more in reference to how full of crap the Ring rankings are
Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
once Frank has another few fighters in his stable ready to fight for world titles i think hell cash in on Burns
i havent saw vasquez fight much i dont think but by sounds off it this is not a formallity and 50/50 fight if anything.
would love to see burns go over to vegas with 2 belts and fight broner ,

There'll be another "bait and switch" tactic of changing the IBF champion into the WBO Africa Youth holder once tickets are sold and Vasquez baulks at the money being offered!

Good that Burns has got his unification shot. Vasquez is good, I've seen a few of his fights but like Burns he lacks a decent punch. Looks set to go the distance hope Ricky can pull it off.

I will buy tickets for this a few days before just to be sure the bill hasnt fallen apart with cryoffs like several others have lately.
Re: Burns Vs Vasquez ?
It just disappoints me that that burns had the opportunity to fight the universally regarded no1 fighter in the division or the no2 fighter and he picked the no2 fighter. He would have got far more aclaim for beating broner than vasquez

Don't think he(Ricky)picks or chooses who he fights Ricky fights who he is told when he is told by his promoter / manager / teamrio wrote:It just disappoints me that that burns had the opportunity to fight the universally regarded no1 fighter in the division or the no2 fighter and he picked the no2 fighter.
