Pre-bed protein snacks?

I always find mushrooms a great alternative when you are bored of the same old same old, granted not huge in protein but yummie and breaks the cycle. Whole mushrooms, pàr boiled, mixed with quality extra virgin olive oil, garlic, ginger, and kept in the fridge for these type of times.Omerta wrote:Usually have either a protein shake or cottage cheese with sliced fruit and flaxseeds which is getting boring anyone recommend any good protein snacks before bedtime? Ive personally found over time, no point in having a pre bed protein snack unless u are a bodybuilder. I try and eat no later than 9 with a meal that will be high protein and than run a mile just after this dinner at a moderate paced 8 minute thing just to burn some of it off. Than sleep and do roadwork in morning 2 miles b4 work. and eat at 11. This really helps the body keep the definition and use food more efficiently. as long as u eat BCAA tablets last thing at night body dont go catabolic anyway.

Like the above I would say its not essential however if you do want something then a good quality casein protein shake would be best, casein is broken down over a longer time than whey and as such is perfect for pre-bedtime protein hits.

I take powdered dry full fat milk. Fill three quarters of a pint glass with the milk, then fill to the top with water.

Go old school. hot chocolate made with full milk. Pint of.

Apart from the fat, milk is ok, the protein in milk is casein.

I just have a protein shake before bed. I take Horleys crossfire, which is a triple nitrogen relay. It has all 3 types of protein in it, Whey Isolate, concentrate and Casein. I also take it as a meal replacement too. The best protein ive ever had.
