Is Rees-Broner really a fight for the fans? I would have said its a fight for Gavin to make as much as he can with an outside chance of hitting the jackpot.

It's definitely an interesting bout. More so than a Karpency or a god awful Jose Ocampo that actually turned people off and gathered massive criticism from all angles.

Rees probably makes no apologies for making a chunk of purse for going over there, and so he should for an American fight on HBO - and yes, it is an outside chance he has.

But as the fight nears it will get boxing fans tuning in to see what the big Broner talk is and they will be cheering Gavin on.

Mayweather is an unbelievable talent, but his timing of fighting people at the right time / weight, is on par with his timing in the ring - masterful.

He's never faced anyone at their ferocious peak, unless their smaller / from a lower division.

He took one risk, against Oscar - and has been cashing in ever since.

And I say that as a mayweather fan.

Alvarez? Who gives a feck about Alvarez when he's fighting Josephito Lopez and Cotto's brother, Jose. Still, Floyd will duck him - despite being able to whitewash him, Baldomir stylee.

What if Kell wins? I think Kell is a special talent, sure he is inexperienced- but he could pull it off. Even if he loses, its not the end of the line for him, especially if he performs well.

People make far too much of an early loss in a fighter's career - in many cases it's a good thing. Even late in a career, Froch for instance looks a better fighter since losing to Kessler and Ward, far more urgency in his work, and far more spite.

Froch v Kessler will happen in the summer needs a bit of building to make it financially viable for all concerned Froch wants revenge the postponement is more to do with Stevenson demanding his mandatory challenge than Matchroom being cheap.

Which is it? That sentence is highly contradictory.

The latter primarily and then then the former but both are contributary factors.

Castillo was ten years and he arguably lost their first fight, was given a debatable decision and they rematched. Castillo and Oscar are the last times "Mayweather stepped up" and his career is generally not stellar otherwise.

Also Tszyu took the Hatton fight because Floyd wanted no part of him. He hid behind the "I'm a HBO fighter" argument (whilst Tszyu was on Showtime) to swerve that one.

Even at 35, Kostya was an accurate and dangerous boxer for the likes of Floyd and they all knew it after the Zab fight.

Hatton simply possessed the style and determination at that time to tire old legs. I had the fight even before he retired in the 11th.

Anyway, my point is Mayweather lords it as "No1" when his record suggests he is nowhere near taking risks.

He boxed Ortiz whom had drew with Lamont Peterson only a fight before Berto. And Andre Berto is nothing special either. He was gifted by Collazo, beaten by Ortiz and Guerrero. All fine fighters by the way - but not £100m superstars are they like Pacquiao, Martinez and maybe Alvarez (one day if the hype continues).
