Joe Louis The Best

Post by bnovelist »

:bag: I've been watching his fights on youtube the past couple of weeks and MAN! Joe Louis was a stone cold demeanor and finished

guys were deliberate intent, he was cold-hearted once he had a guy in queer street :DD His punches were very scientific aiming behind the

ear of his opponents to throw their equilibrium off balance, he had a very calculated style and remained dangerous the whole fight who

could come from behind in an instant changing the fight around. I'm in amazement watching Joe Louis in his prime. I love the Ali's, the

Tyson's, the Hagler's, etc...But Joe Louis had a hitman's presence in that squared circle, NOW when I think of a complete fighter the total

package Joe Louis springs to my mind right away! I have never seen a finisher like this guy! Joe Louis is a like the  when he had you

hurt!

Either Louis or Holmes was the best heavyweight ever. Followed by Ali and then Lewis.

I think Holmes could have beaten most, if not all the heavyweights. Louis I would have either as #2 or #3, Ali being in the mix. After that, its anyone guess #4 through #20.

Since Ali is ripped on an almost daily basis, in the interest of fairness, lets take a look at some of the negatives of the careers of Joe Louis and Larry Holmes. After all, isn't fairness what boxrec is all about?

Larry Holmes:
Got decked by Renaldo Snipes
Got decked by Earnie Shavers (really twice, one was incorrectly ruled a push)
Had a lot of trouble with Mike Weaver
Had a close fight with Tim Witherspoon that easily could have been scored the other way or as a draw.
Got a ridiculaus decison vs Carl Williams (To be fair Holmes was past his prime.)

Did not defend his title vs Coeztee, Page, Thomas, or Dokes. Yet managed to squeeze in title defenses against the likes of Zanon, LeDoux,Rodriguez, and Frank.

Joe Louis:
Got knocked out by Max Schmeling
Got decked by James Braddock
Got decked by Buddy Baer
Got decked by Tony Galento
Had a lot of trouble winning a close decision over Tommy Farr
Had a close decison winning a close decison over Arturo Godoy
Was losing to Billy Conn before scoring ko in the 13th round.
Got decked twice in the first Walcott fight. Was given a decison that many observers thought was horrible.
Got decked once in the Walcott rematch.

Can come up with excuses for his opponents in his biggest wins as well.

:oo
Lennox Lewis is 4th ranked greatest ever Heavyweight?

I just can't agree with that, Lewis just about makes the outskirts of my top 10.

Stop making sense Alp. You should know by now that the only flawless heavyweight in history was the real greatest, i,e, Sonny Liston.
