Does anyone know what happened to Naser al harbi ?

Post by 80/20 »

Just wondered why he pulled out of Prizefighter as it would have been good for his profile as he seems to be talented enough but not really moving anywhere ?

He apparently had an issue with a return flight from Mexico, where he was enjoying a honeymoon cum training camp, and ended up missing the Prizefighter press day. According to his people, if you don't attend the press day, you get binned from the card.

Sorry Saf, if your spying, but i think Nasser (never seen him fight!) would have had to try and spoil against Foot and Gaynor. The show has not missed him. Sorry Saf, I was looking forward to seeing him, just dont think he would have suited the casuals from what i have read.

He apparently went on a training camp without his trainer to spar Saul Alvarez, but then someone pointed out he was on his honeymoon!
Al Harbi has only made the welterweight limit once in his career and then was over 2 years ago. He's even boxed at 2 stone over the limit which would suggest that he doesn't make welter easily. If he was intending to enter Prizefighter it doesn't sound like his preparation was ideal.

I have heard from a reliable source he was in Mexico training with Mickey Garcia so obviously sparring is more important than his career. He was meant to fight Gavin and pulled out and now prizefighter. He obviously is not interested on taking a risk to fight opponents or even in a tournement where anything can happen is he.

Saf posted about this under one of his alter ego's (not sure if the thread got removed ?).

Basically he said at first that Naz was in Mexico sparring - then it transpired he was there on honeymoon.

He then said that when he got to the airport the plane was alreay full so he missed that flight and the next flight would have landed too late to take part in Prizefighter.

Poor old Naz can't get a break, what with various outbreaks of man-flu and now the airlines joining those who are conspiring against him ......

he apparently had a valid flight ticket but they wouldn't let him board....the poster who broke this news didn't play the race card...that made me very suspicious....

He is a very good fighter just seems he either dont or won't want to progress in the rankings. Had a good chance to earn a british title shot fighting Gavin but decided against that. Then in prizefighter he would rather have sparred with Micky Garcia. Shame as he could be a good domestic fighter with the right fights.
