David Haye's Licence.

Post by keithmoonhangover »

So Haye has applied for and been given a new licence by the BBBofC subject to a physical.

Does this mean he's closer to a fight with Vitali?

It means it's close to his annual multi-million pound hype-up job. Who the opponent will be, we'll have to wait and see.

If he isnt fighting Vitali he should be looking to fight Povetkin get the world title back at the least he would gain substantial respect and likely force the klits into fighting him next.

If Haye, who I currently view as a cherrypicker, fought Povetkin my respect for him would grow substantially, win or lose.

It's amazing, 5 years ago he was the saviour of the heavyweight division, now he's a more improved version of Audley.

Give your head a shake man. He's only lost to the best heavyweight in the world. In his last fight he stopped a guy that Vitali and Helenius couldn't put down.

Haye is among the best pound for pound fighters we've had for a number of years. He's not done too badly for someone people used to term as a chinny cruiserweight hype job without the heart for a battle. Some say he's boring and prone to dull fights, but again, I've had some of my most tense boxing nights of recent years with Haye, particularly the Mormeck fight. Beyond reaching his dream of a heavyweight title, beyond being a two weight world champion, beyond being a hard hitting tactically aware beast in the ring and business savvy and charasmatic fella outside of it, he beat up Derek Chisora twice. I for one am grateful for the Hayemaker.

The criticism of Haye is more about who he's beaten: a load of crap.

Are you mental!!!! he fought everyone their was to fight at cruiserweight....wiping them out mostly...some cracking finishes

then he turns heavyweight beats every one he fought except for the one...and he is probably not big enough as well..

And to be honest he fought with a broken toe when he lost....he did embaress himself at the end of the fight showing it but it would have hindered him and he should have pulled out....you can't fight the best when your not at your best..

I'm a massive Haye fan. He does piss me off tho that he will only fight for big money. He said he'd only fight the Klitschko's last time, before Chisora, so if he was offered big money i'm sure he'd fight anyone. I really wish he would fight more but I guess he did retire after all.

I don't view him as a fighter anymore. That's just something on his CV now. Unless he lace's up again very soon. He is in a baron weight class, but a Fury fight would do massive numbers - more than Vitali.

He needs to remember though, is that his route to 'celebrity' is through his boxing - and if that dries up then so will his other media related aspirations.

I'd much rather see him box than anything else on the TV.

Are you haye's massage lady?

I'm a haye fan and his cruiserweight reign was impressive. His career as a heavyweight is questionable

2gunz Barrett
Valuev
Johnny Ruiz
A-Farce

Not exactly a fine crop of heavyweights is it? Even in this day and age. Delboy is his most impressive win at heavy by a mile.

Going for the Valuev fight was a master stroke it gave him real bargaining power against Wlad, Ruiz was mandatory , 2 Gunz was a gatekeeper, Audley was easy money bigger up by Eddie Hearn and Sky.
Which amazing hw has he been skirting ? Povetkin, Arreola? Zzz
He dropped a bollock against Wlad and wants to fight the no1 Vitali next.

The Valuev fight was a shocker handful of punches thrown in the whole fight... David Haye was deffo the best Cruiserweight in the World but deffo not at heavyweight he never took enough fights.. If he wanted to be this big name why not fight Wilder,Price and Fury they look like the future... I think he would lose at Least 2 out of those 3 fights.. I like Haye he's good for boxing

Everyone except Steve Cunningham and Tomasz Adamek at cruiserweight i.e. the two best fighters.

His heavyweight effort consists of wins against the following formidable line-up: Bonin, Barrett, Valuev, Ruiz, Harrison and Chisora. He didn't get close to Klitschko.

You can't knock Haye for the money he's earned and the 'crossover' fame he's generated and, when all is said and done, prizefighting is about making money. That his resume, as it stands, is as weak as it is probably doesn't bother him.

You're right there, fella. He doesn't give a flying you know what about what anyone thinks other than his bank manager - and he's publicly said as much. Public opinion about his career doesn't dent or affect his vision of himself one iota.

'Legacy' means different things to different people.

But Adamek had done nothing yet at cruiserweight; by the time he won a world title in late 2008, Haye had long since gone up to heavyweight, fought Barrett, and started goading the Klitschkos. I don't recall anyone at the time complaining that Haye should have fought Adamek, although I may be wrong.

He definitely should have fought Cunningham, who was not far removed from stopping Marco Huck (how great that win looks now!)

Wow Haye may not be the greatest HW but he would certainly beat wilder and fury and he is leagues above price in experience, price is nowhere near ready for Haye yet he isnt even fighting at top domestic level.

People always say this but Adamek had only just moved up to cruiser and had couple of fights and cunningham beat huck and lost to adamek after winning the vacant IBF - im not convinced either of them would have beaten haye. If they were to fight now you wouldnt expect haye to lose surely?
