Fischer on Witter

Post by johnswan1 »

Very surprising to see a US writer giving such props to Witter:

"I’d probably pick Hatton, Corrales and Cotto over Witter, but I would not count him out and I would not be shocked if he knocked all three of those guys out”.

I think Doug has a soft spot for the UK fighters (Hatton, Witter and Williams)!

after cotto looked so awful against torres i think witter could take him. :box: witter would not have folded like a pack of cards and would be dangerous until the end.

love to c cotto take him out though of course. :D

I think Doug Fischer just sees it as it is. He was harsh on Hatton on the way up, but after seeing his performances against Tackie and Tszyu changed his mind.

I used to talk to Doug a lot when he was editor in cheif at Max, and he is one of the least biased American writers along with Jason Probst.

You have to realise that Hatton and Witter are both world class fighters, Hatton's proven it at a higher level, but there are few fighters at LW who don't have any weaknesses.

Doug also picked Hatton to beat Mayweather if they fought.

Isn't he still editor and chief?

Had to laugh when I saw his comment regarding the future of Corrales and Castillo.

"I ain’t pullin’ for no trilogies, man. These two have given us enough of each other. I’d like to see what both guys could do at 140 pounds vs. other top fighters: Mayweather-Castillo III, Hatton-Corrales, Castillo-Cotto, Corrales-Torres (oh s__t!), or Hatton-Castillo (oooh-weee!)".

No, Thomas Gerbasi is. Doug had a kid so couldn't handle the extra work being editor entailed.

Tom's a nice guy.
