Chris Keane Best British Cruiserweight since David Haye ?

Post by Boxingcutsman »

After Chris Keane skilfully & Very explosively dictated & quickly ended his recent fight with the very tough, previously unstoppable Shane McPhilbin, who is next for him ? And who thinks he could be the next best cruiser to come out of the UK since David Haye ? Showing extremely fast hands, fast feet, good movement, great jab, very explosive power in both hands, good chin, and showing he is a good finisher.

He beat a slow but strong cruiser in Shane, judge him when he fight someone with skill, speed and power then we'll see,to say chris is anywhere near the level as haye is not right.
Well done on the win but there several better IMO than Shane in uk

I like the way Keane fights, he looks like he could do light-heavyweight, though. I don't think he's big enough to cut it as an international cruiserweight but given the standard in the UK right now, if he wants to pick up an easy title, he's operating in the right division.

Did you watch him ? Shane looked pretty dangerous when he pushed Enzo the distance recently and was robbed of the knockout ? Also i didnt see JLD do anything but be safe while looking scared against Shane recently aswell. Tell me this Mr.Cynic, is there any other Cruiserweight in the country then that is showing, hand speed, explosive power & movement, just like David use to ? Thats the likeness I was trying to make, I suppose you would of had the same response though if Adam Booth would of put a similar thing after David stopped the usually unstoppable Hastings Rassani in his 8th fight ? You can only fight who is front of you and try your best to do it in good fashion, no else including some big name heavyweights could do to Shane what Chris done, either in the Am's or Pro's.

once he becomes british champion and has proved himself to be best domestically then he can be classed as best since haye if we discount ola as he aint ever reaching his level.

and shane has looked awful lately so this victory hasnt proved anything, taken nothing away from keane he looked very good but shane has lost and desire he once had.

if he thought JLD next fight id heavily favour JLD to beat him as he is very underated.

put him in with simmons and see who is the best young cruiser in britain

I was hoping you would pop up mr.nelson :OhYes: so who do you think is better than Chris in the UK then ? Oh that's right, Stephen Simmonds. if you look at the statement i wrote i said, could he be the best cruiser out of the UK since David Haye :TU: I will simply say this mate, get in touch, make the fight happen and I guarantee the way Stephen likes to plough forward throwing leather he will be getting knocked out has quick has Shane did :TU:

Because he feels strong at Crusierweight mate, granted he's not a big Cruiser at around 13st 10lb but he hits has hard if not harder than most heavyweights, if no one believes me on that they can ask Chisora, Sprott, Butlin, Perkins, Maccranelli, Hoopjaa. He has got the hand speed and movement to trouble the big, slow lads aswell so no real need to boil down, we can Carb up fight week and feel strong while all the big lads cut weight, dry out and then try and refuel over night.

I think he may well get away with being a smaller cruiserweight on the domestic scene but if he has the goods to move up to European level it may be a tougher ask. A lot of those lads boxing out of Germany are within touching distance of 15 stone come fight night.

Yh very true, they are big lads in Europe, he has sparred former European title challengers at crusier, most recently the lad who just took Masternak the distance in December and he's got more than enough to trouble them, also big 18st heavyweights so we dont really see that has to much of a problem eventually he will fill out to about 14st 2lb - 14st 3lb very similar to the way Haye did aswell, that will not be for 12-18months though. We know what we need to improve on and what our weaknesses are, but we are excited about the fighter we have to mold.

I like the look of him especially as he is from near me in Wolverhampton. I would like to see him fight the winner of Dickinson-Dolan or another fight for him could be the winner of the rematch against Conquest-Dawson for WBC International. He has quick speed and even though he is light at the weight he will look the stronger as he wont have to drain the weight. What is your next movement for him boxingcutsman?

Yh we hope he will face the winner of JLD Vs Dolan for the British, it will be a good test to see if what we believe we have is right, it will need him to answer questions and tick more boxes which will help him further on in his career. We wanted to fight Conquest twice already and they refused us so don't see that happening, Chris is a quiet kid who likes to get in the ring and do his talking, he's willing to fight anybody.

But if Dawson beats him im sure Dawson would be willing to have a fight with Keane. That would be a great challenge for Keane which one that he stands a chance with. Keane has worked his way into a British Title fight or even if that doesnt come off what about Matty Askin?

No doubt Chris is a good prospect and has potential and did a number on Shane but could he be the best Cruiser since Haye......I'm not sure as I don't think we've seen enough of him yet. I reckon the next 3 fights will give us more answers. It looks like Chris is looking to move on at a pace so wouldn't be surprised if he faced either Askin, Conquest, Simmonds or Dawson within 3 then move onto JLD. Shane had prepared badly for this fight but having said that you can only beat who is in front of you and Chris certainly did that in style. I haven't seen anyone try and bully Chris back despite his compact size (as mentioned earlier) so it will be interesting to see what happens when someone tries to put it on Chris and pressurize him. I look forward to following Chris's career and I wish his camp all the best (but they know that any way) :)

Say we did fight Conquest & Dawson in our next 2 fights (in any order) then we face JLD, who do we fight then ? For me Simmons, Price & Camacho are now a way behind Chris and will have to fight there way into position, we are now 4th in the country our next fight if not for the British should be China Clarke who is above all the rest, maybe that can be made for a British final eliminator, would be a good test, he's a big Cruiser.

Phill you know has well has me mate that any fighter who try's to plough forward throwing leather putting on pressure with Chris will get knocked out quick, Shane would of lasted longer except he was told in the corner at the end of round 2 to put pressure on Chris, throw some leather, use your strength, bully him, let him see what it feels like, then what happend ? The minute you open up your gonna get tagged, fight over.

Yh Dawson is a tough man, he would take the fight for sure, he's with Carl (Greaves) aswell so that fight could be made quite easy I suppose, if he beats Conquest again then it could be for that WBO belt, which would be nice, like I said Chris will fight who ever we put in front of him. Just say for instance though we agree to fight each of all these lads above us to prove we're the best, (has not many others do it) which were willing to do, we want to see the pretenders around us do the same to validate there deserving which is only fair.

I would like to thank everyone who has commented or added to this post, very much appreciated, wether you've agreed with me or disagreed, your opinion has been received with appreciation, that's why I love boxing, it's a sport that is open to interpretation and opinions. Thanks once again and I hope you will all get behind a good, prospect who is a polite, quiet kid who possesses a lot of talent, ambition and great potential with the right guidance. My point of this subject was to gain people's opinions, it was not comparing Chris to David Haye, it was a question not a statement, asking could he be the best Cruiserweight since David Haye. Thanks again boxing heads :box: :TU:

I read in the paper Mike Stafford was saying that he had been promised by his manager Steve Wood that if he won his next fight (which he did in December) that his next fight after that would be for the British title.

How does that fit in ?
