Re: Chris Keane Best British Cruiserweight since David Haye ?
Not sure mate, sometimes too much politics get in the way of the sport. I would assume he would have to get a area title or English first before the board put him in for the Mandatory British spot, especially seen has there's lads ahead of him. Maybe Mike could fight Askins or The winner of Dawson Vs Conquest then the winner of that fight the Winner of Keane Vs Clarke for the Mandatory Spot, be good if that could happen. What ever happens the division is finally hotting up a bit, been slow for a while now. British boxing is hotting up in nearly every division now which is great for the sport.
Re: Chris Keane Best British Cruiserweight since David Haye ?
No, Best british cruiser since haye was herbie hide. He had some good wins at cruiser abroad and was mandatory for a world title before slipping off the radar.
Re: Chris Keane Best British Cruiserweight since David Haye ?
Yeah I remember him in prizefighter a couple of years back obsolutely destroyed his opponent in the first fight but got a nasty cut and pulled out so he didn't risk his WBC ranking. Didn't hear from him since.rio wrote:No, Best british cruiser since haye was herbie hide. He had some good wins at cruiser abroad and was mandatory for a world title before slipping off the radar.
McPhilbin did take JLD the distance watched some of it really dull fight so Keane taking him out in 3 is a statement. I'll keep an eye out for him.

Hi Boxingcutsman, I'm not sure who refused you twice, I manage Tony Conquest and Chris's name hasn't been mentioned to me once by any matchmaker or promoter, let alone twice, as a possible opponent for Chris.Boxingcutsman wrote:Yh we hope he will face the winner of JLD Vs Dolan for the British, it will be a good test to see if what we believe we have is right, it will need him to answer questions and tick more boxes which will help him further on in his career. We wanted to fight Conquest twice already and they refused us so don't see that happening, Chris is a quiet kid who likes to get in the ring and do his talking, he's willing to fight anybody.btahthezone wrote:I like the look of him especially as he is from near me in Wolverhampton. I would like to see him fight the winner of Dickinson-Dolan or another fight for him could be the winner of the rematch against Conquest-Dawson for WBC International. He has quick speed and even though he is light at the weight he will look the stronger as he wont have to drain the weight. What is your next movement for him boxingcutsman?

Well i was impressed by him on Friday night, good punch selection by him and timed that right hand well when Shane rushed in, finished the fight well. Still lots of time to find out how good Keane is and i'm looking forward to seeing him again.
There's lots of interesting fights at Cruiser for him with Dickinson, Dawson, Dolan, Conquest and Clarke.
Plus you have Price, Camacho and Simmons coming through. I remember I posted saying there wasn't much at cruiser in this country and Boxingcutsman said i obviously wasn't up with who was out there, think you were right mate.
The Commonwealth title hasn't been fought for since 2011, and is vacant as far as i know. Maybe that could be another avenue for Keane to look at.

where would most english fighters place the commonwealth title in terms of prestige and where they are at in their career? i would imagine it would go area-english-british-european, but would the commonwealth come after english or british?Old bones Ian wrote:Well i was impressed by him on Friday night, good punch selection by him and timed that right hand well when Shane rushed in, finished the fight well. id say higher than english lower than british but in teory it should be above british as its for a wider selection of boxers to compete for , its probably supposed to theoretically be between british and european , but below british is where id place it .Paullow wrote:where would most english fighters place the commonwealth title in terms of prestige and where they are at in their career? i would imagine it would go area-english-british-european, but would the commonwealth come after english or british?Old bones Ian wrote:Well i was impressed by him on Friday night, good punch selection by him and timed that right hand well when Shane rushed in, finished the fight well. Stephen Simmons is by far the best prospect in Scotland,IMO he will outwork Christ but eh that's just my opinion, please remember Simmons leads the life of a boxer through and through and is a complete athlete that's what you will be up against.Boxingcutsman wrote:billy nelson wrote:He beat a slow but strong cruiser in Shane, judge him when he fight someone with skill, speed and power then we'll see,to say chris is anywhere near the level as haye is not right.Boxingcutsman wrote:After Chris Keane skilfully & Very explosively dictated & quickly ended his recent fight with the very tough, previously unstoppable Shane McPhilbin, who is next for him ? And who thinks he could be the next best cruiser to come out of the UK since David Haye ? Showing extremely fast hands, fast feet, good movement, great jab, very explosive power in both hands, good chin, and showing he is a good finisher.
Well done on the win but there several better IMO than Shane in uk
I was hoping you would pop up mr.nelsonso who do you think is better than Chris in the UK then ? Oh that's right, Stephen Simmonds. if you look at the statement i wrote i said, could he be the best cruiser out of the UK since David Haye
I will simply say this mate, get in touch, make the fight happen and I guarantee the way Stephen likes to plough forward throwing leather he will be getting knocked out has quick has Shane did
Remember you had a chance last year to fight Stephen and you said NO,it will be one of your better decisions in time.
Ps well done

The Commonwealth title used to mean a bit more a few years ago, but with the advent of all these Inter-Continental type titles , it seems to have taken the shine off holding the Commonwealth title. I'm a bit old fashioned and like the boxer that holds the Euro, British and Commonwealth titles all at the same timeLooking On wrote:id say higher than english lower than british but in teory it should be above british as its for a wider selection of boxers to compete for , its probably supposed to theoretically be between british and european , but below british is where id place it .Paullow wrote:where would most english fighters place the commonwealth title in terms of prestige and where they are at in their career? i would imagine it would go area-english-british-european, but would the commonwealth come after english or british?Old bones Ian wrote:Well i was impressed by him on Friday night, good punch selection by him and timed that right hand well when Shane rushed in, finished the fight well. Hi pal, obviously someone along the line didn't ask for the fight then when we wanted it and rather than tell us they come up with that reply, my apologies. Good luck for the fight in march also
While we're on the subject then, any chance of fighting Tony for that lovely WBO belt when he beats Dawson.

Billy I do like you so much my friend, your great, I love the banter with you
Thank you for your congratulations on the win, much appreciated.
Yes I agree Stephen is a good prospect mate, very good boxer indeed, good work rate but he is very predictable. I can believe Simmons lives the life, I've never questioned that, but what makes you think Chris doesn't ? In fact everyone went to the after party Friday after the show and Chris was the only person not drinking, in fact he doesn't drink, so about Stephen living the life doesn't matter when it comes to Chris has he lives the life also. And Billy we didn't say NO to fighting Stephen, the plans where changed, you was informed it would be on a show in your own town with a local referee and we only found out when I came on this forum and saw you telling fans, but no one had informed us. Chris will gladly fight Stephen, in fact there's a big show in march, he could out work Chris over 10 rounds then

Yh we feel that aswell pal. Chris actually beat Wadi Camacho very very easily in the Nations Final at heavyweight, Chris is a good kid with a lot of hunger and desire, he's a polite quiet kid and unlike a lot he is genuinely willing to fight anybody. A lot of people don't realise Chris also was ABA heavyweight championship aswell, being only the 2nd to do so by knocking out all his opponents, so he's got the boxing ability and pedigree to go with the explosive power.

Re: Chris Keane Best British Cruiserweight since David Haye ?
Like I've said on the previous page, I'm only trying to get fans interested in my fighter, and to get his name out there, I'm not disrespectful and hope that non of my posts have came across that way, if they have it wasn't my intention, and i appologise. I respect everyone's opinions, but I also enjoy the banter
I genuinely like and rate all the boxers mentioned in this topic:
Simmons
Conquest
Dickinson
Dawson
Clarke
Askins
Price
They all have great strengths and weaknesses, it's my job to exploit them weaknesses, hopefully the Cruiserweight division will continue to heat up and we should have some great domestic scraps to look forward too in the near future. But I still think Chris Keane is the best out the bunch

As there is a lot of talk of these fights and people saying he said no and we said no why dont we just get the fights sorted out. Simmons v Keane or if Conquest wins against Dawson then Conquest v Keane for WBC International Championship. It seems they are easy matches and they can be sorted real quick. I take it Keane is fighting in Wolverhampton in March then Boxingcutsman?

Yh I like Simon, hes a good lad another good addition to the cruisers. Chris knows him from the Amatuers, it's about time the Cruiserweight division heated up, lots of competition at last, and no matter who we think is the best or who we think beats who, it's all great for our sport, and boxing wins. I'm looking forward to seeing how the division unfolds over the next 18 months.
Re: Chris Keane Best British Cruiserweight since David Haye ?
Just watched the fight, and he looked like he has promise, but the bigger thing it reminded me of is how dreadful McPhilbin is. His attempts to put pressure on in the 3rd were like watching an elephant on its hind legs. Has nobody ever taught him how to punch? McPhilbin - Williams was the worst British title fight I've ever suffered through.
My view of Keane is that he's not quick enough to beat JLD. Hard to say whether he can apply enough pressure to have a chance of knocking him out, but I think he's gonna get outscored in that fight.

You say Mcphilbin was terrible etc , and while i cant disagree with you it got me thinking about the fact that in the amateurs to my knowledge he beat Keane , possibly an ABA semi final ???? i know he lost in the aba's to Tyson Fury .SamWise72 wrote:Just watched the fight, and he looked like he has promise, but the bigger thing it reminded me of is how dreadful McPhilbin is. Hes obviously got some boxing ability as you dont do well in the top amateur tournaments if you cant box , but something happened to him that has made him not do too well in his last couple of fights , is it his lifestyle he leads ? is it that he just doesnt want it ?
